WORLD PROSPECTS
Sandvik set to acquire Diemme Filtration
Sandvik has signed an agreement to acquire the Italy-based company Diemme ® Filtration, a provider of filtration and dewatering solutions for the global mining industry, with a leading position in high-performance filter presses. The company will be reported as a separate new division, Filtration, within business area Rock Processing.
With the acquisition, Sandvik enters the filtration and dewatering segment, strengthening Rock Processing’ s offering across the mining value chain, it says. The total addressable market is estimated to be over SEK20 billion($ 2.1 billion). Filtration is a critical process step in downstream mining, and Diemme Filtration’ s solidliquid separation solutions bring significant customer value by enabling improved productivity, water recovery and tailings management, it says.
In addition to its engineered-to-order filtration systems, Diemme Filtration has a sizeable aftermarket business with high growth potential, Sandvik notes. The company also offers proprietary software for remote monitoring and predictive maintenance, complementing Rock Processing’ s digital offering.
Stefan Widing, President and CEO of Sandvik, said:“ I am very pleased with this acquisition, which is strongly aligned with our strategy to grow in attractive niches in downstream mining. With Diemme Filtration we add a profitable and fast-growing niche within mineral processing to our core offering, that strengthens our position with key mining customer groups and brings an attractive aftermarket business.”
Demand in the filtration segment is driven by several strong trends, and the market is expected to grow in the low double-digits, the OEM says. Declining ore grades are pushing mines toward higher slurry volumes, materially raising the need for increased filtration capacity. Additionally, stricter water and tailings regulations are driving demand for water preservation solutions and denser tailings.
Richard Harris, President of Rock Processing, said:“ Diemme Filtration’ s offering is highly complementary to Rock Processing and gives us a strong position

in a segment that is central to mining customers’ future flowsheets. It directly supports our strategy for eco-efficient rock processing and brings an opportunity to increase aftermarket penetration by leveraging Sandvik’ s global service footprint.”
The company is headquartered in Lugo, Italy, with a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility and R & D capabilities. It has approximately 200 employees and a diversified global customer base across copper, gold, nickel and battery‐materials mining. Revenues for 2026 are estimated to be about SEK1.1 billion, with an EBITA margin accretive to business area Rock Processing.
The investment is expected to generate returns in line with Sandvik’ s cost of capital within three years, and to exceed them thereafter, the company notes. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price. The impact on Sandvik’ s earnings per share( excluding PPA) is expected to be accretive. The transaction is expected to close in the September quarter of 2026.

First P & H 2300XPC AC shovel in North America commissioned
On June 13, Komatsu’ s Canadian National Service Group( NSG) completed commissioning of a P & H 2300XPC AC rope shovel at Imperial Metals’ Mount Polley Mine in British Columbia. The NSG is a specialised division within Komatsu Mining that provides highly skilled field technicians, maintenance support, and machinery commissioning for heavy mining equipment.
Mount Polley is a 100 %-owned open-pit copper-gold mine located 56 kilometres northeast of Williams Lake in south-central
BC. Commissioned in 1997, the mill typically processes six to seven million tonnes of ore annually.
This was significant as it was the first commissioning of this rope shovel model in North America. The P & H 2300XPC AC fleet now includes four operating machines worldwide, with additional units currently running in Russia and India. It features a nominal payload of 45.4 t and a dipper capacity ranging from 18 to 25 m ³.
It includes the design elements that
Komatsu rope shovels are most known for in the market – these include a twin-leg dipper handle for a stable dipper trajectory, faster cycle times and higher productivity; along with a rack and pinion crowd for lower maintenance, and consistent performance in all weathers. These are combined with minematched Optima dippers with optimised pitch braces for precise rake angles. Digital technology includes the Centurion electrical control system for superior performance, monitoring and data integration capabilities; plus a universal shovel interface to allow sending and receiving of data with any mine management system. PreVail remote health management provides real-time machine health and performance management.
Komatsu describes the model as combining the functionality of a highperformance rope shovel with the practicality of a smaller machine. Designed to operate in high production mines, it says this proven series of shovels are ideal for coal, copper, iron ore and gold mines around the world. It cites up to 51 % less CO 2 release per tonne of material moved compared to equivalent hydraulic excavators; and a 12 % lower cost per tonne of material moved.

Namdeb’ s Dry Mining Unit boosted by Cat D11 dozers
The future of mining at Namdeb took another important step forward recently as the company procured four Caterpillar D11 dozers from Barloworld Namibia on a rent to buy agreement. The machines will assist with operation of Dry Mining Unit( DMU) plants, by feeding them with sand using power dozer pushing. The DMU is a key innovation aimed at transforming the way Namdeb carries out overburden sand mining.
The D11s are Caterpillar’ s largest and most powerful dozers and are classified as ultraclass mining dozers, fitted with semi-universal blades and can move up to ~ 27.2 cubic metres of material in a single push. Speaking during the handover of the machines, held on 17 June 2026, Barloworld Country Manager, Nick Kyriacos, expressed his pride in delivering the machines to Namdeb.“ From Caterpillar and Barloworld’ s perspective, being able to deliver four D11s to an operation like Namdeb and have them all in production is very exciting for all of us. We are proud to support Namdeb with equipment that will contribute to a more efficient and cost-effective way of mining and help drive the business forward.”
Namdeb Chief Operating Officer, Jurgen Jacob, commended the Barloworld and local Caterpillar team for their continued support and service excellence.“ These D11 Caterpillar machines are a massive step forward for our operation, and we are very
