Langley team went on to develop what is now the technology behind AlertMeter ® and PRISM , which through Denver-based Predictive Safety SRP , Inc has been deployed at Anglo American ’ s Kolomela iron ore operation as well as by other mining groups including Kinross , Glencore , Buenaventura and Volcan .
PRISM-Monitor gives managers and supervisors the ability to quantify and observe the potential for and the progression of fatigue . Users can predict fatigue hot spots in individual workers , shifts , and departments , enabling fatigue to be quantified so it can be managed delivering safer , more productive shifts .
It delivers fatigue prediction reports at the start of each shift . Real-time fatigue prediction alerts are sent to every supervisor providing the opportunity to engage countermeasures . No direct workforce engagement is required and no wearables .
Then PRISM-Workforce engages the entire team with personalised alerts when fatigue progresses to at-risk levels . PRISM-Workforce is also claimed to be the only Fatigue Management System that can assess worker alertness relative topredicted fatigue .
It works with AlertMeter ® to accurately asssess when fatigue has progressed to impairment and empowers workers and supervisors to engage effective countermeasures . Predictive Safety says it has a high level of worker confidence enhancing a culture of safety .
How does it work ? Workers take the 60-second , app-based , validated AlertMeter ® Alertness Test . Results are analysed and compared with a personal baseline to determine readiness to perform duties . Results are tracked and added to PRISM ’ s predictive alghorithm . Supervisors are notified if worker demonstrates acute fatigue sufficient to induce impairment or when a worker is at risk for becoming impaired due to fatigue .
The bio-mathematical model of PRISM is called FIRM , or Fatigue Index Risk Measurement . FIRM provides a Fatigue Risk Index for each worker in real-time . The scale of the Fatigue Risk Index is divided into several risk zones , ranging from Low to Severe , and each risk zone calls for tailored fatigue mitigation actions . The risk zones can be adjusted to specific job risk profiles .
