RPM concluded on the new app : “ The solution provides notifications where a potential issue or observation about an asset has been identified . Notifications can include items such as breakdown , priority , what may have caused the issue or what damage has already occurred . With the mobile in the hand of the user , they can scan QR codes to reach equipment , access the device camera to add photographs as supporting evidence or add voice to text , streamlining the rectification processes that follow .”
ABB ’ s app evolution continues
ABB ’ s gearless mill drive ( GMD ) customers are also benefitting from improved maintenance monitoring functionality thanks to the recent launch of the ABB Ability™ Predictive Maintenance for grinding app .
Launched in November 2021 , the app was predicated on allowing users to obtain real-time notifications on GMD systems in a simplified manner .
Angeles Fernandez , Global Product Manager Grinding Service , ABB Process Industries , said the significant change to ABB ’ s on-premises version for grinding was the move to a cloudbased platform .
“ This is unique in the market and enables new features including additional trend monitoring and analytics ,” she told IM . “ Mine operators can check gearless mill drive performance from anywhere via simple , intuitive dashboards on a smartphone or tablet .”
Fernandez called the app development the “ obvious next step ” in ABB ’ s GMD evolution , providing a tool that comes with additional value for customers .
