Revolutionising screening efficiency: Introducing the new ENDURON Elite banana screen

The ENDURON Elite screen is setting a new benchmark in sustainable, high-performance screening, fully supported by Weir’ s extensive service network offering unrivalled service, support and local expertise right across the globe

In an era where declining ore grades and rising energy costs challenge mine productivity, Weir has unveiled a gamechanging innovation: the ENDURON ® Elite banana screen. Purpose-built for high-tonnage, fine screening applications – particularly for hard rock and HPGR circuits – this next-generation screen sets a new benchmark in performance, reliability and efficiency.

The ENDURON Elite screen incorporates advanced wear-resistant materials and LINATEX premium rubber linings, ensuring long-term durability even in corrosive environments
1. Exceptional screening efficiency and throughput
The ENDURON Elite screen’ s multi-slope banana deck design ensures rapid stratification and efficient separation across the full particle size distribution. This results in higher throughput and more accurate classification, particularly in demanding applications like HPGR discharge circuits, which often involve high recirculation loads and fine cut sizes( 1-4 mm). The screen’ s ability to handle these conditions with precision makes it ideal for modern, highcapacity operations.
2. Reduced maintenance and downtime
A key innovation is the use of just two patented ETX exciters – featuring the largest vibration-duty bearings in the world – capable of driving a screen with a deck measuring 4.3 m x 8.5 m. Screens of this size typically require three exciters. This not only simplifies the mechanical design but also reduces structural stress and the number of components requiring maintenance. The ETX exciters are strategically mounted close to the side-plates to minimise deflection, extending service life and reducing structural complexity. For customers, this translates to lower maintenance costs, fewer spare parts and improved equipment availability.
3. Enhanced durability and reliability
Engineered for giga-cycle fatigue and dynamic loading, the ENDURON Elite screen incorporates advanced wear-resistant materials and LINATEX ® premium rubber linings, ensuring long-term durability even in corrosive environments. The ETX exciters feature optimised casting geometries – developed using advanced simulation and additive manufacturing – that improve cooling, lubrication and structural integrity. These enhancements extend bearing life, reduce oil change intervals and lower operating temperatures, all contributing to greater reliability and uptime.
4. Energy and sustainability gains
The ENDURON Elite screen plays a central role in Weir’ s transformational flowsheet, which replaces traditional tumbling mills with ENDURON HPGRs and vertical stirred mills. This integrated approach can reduce energy consumption by up to 40 %,

significantly lowering operational costs and environmental impact. Additionally, the screen’ s digital monitoring capabilities – tracking vibration, temperature and bearing health – enable real-time performance optimisation, further enhancing efficiency.
5. Global support and proven performance
The modular design of the new screens also simplifies transport, installation and servicing, making it especially valuable for remote or logistically challenging sites. Already selected for major projects like Barrick’ s Reko Diq copper-gold development in Pakistan, the ENDURON Elite screen is setting a new benchmark in sustainable, high-performance screening, fully supported by Weir’ s extensive service network offering unrivalled service, support and local expertise right across the globe.
