Metso has supplied its largest ever gyratory delivered in Brazil for the compact crushing plant – a Superior™ MKIII 70-89 – it is capable of 15,000 t / h and has a 1,780 mm feed opening, power rating of 900 kW and weighs 430 t. It is the same diameter as the MKIII 60-89 but taller. Metso has also supplied the outstanding largest ever apron feeders delivered in Brazil, that feed the crusher plus a second apron feeder for the discharge, plus a series of banana screens.
MMD continues successes at Mae Moh with EGAT
MMD Mining Machinery( Thailand) says it is driving innovation in Thailand’ s energy sector through the delivery of two advanced MMD Semi-Mobile Coal Sizing Stations. It is partnering with SKSC Construction Company to supply these stations to the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand( EGAT). This project modernises coal processing operations at the Mae Moh Coal Mine, one of southeast Asia’ s largest lignite mining operations. It says:“ This collaboration underscores MMD’ s global leadership in sustainable mining equipment, offering unparalleled efficiency, reduced environmental impact, and long-term cost savings.”
The Mae Moh Coal Mine, operated and managed by the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand( EGAT), plays a crucial role in powering Thailand’ s energy grid by supplying lignite coal to the Mae Moh Power Plant, which has a total installed capacity of 2,400 MW. In 2021, MMD supplied another Semi-Mobile Sizing Station and a 500 t Atlas Transporter to the Mae Moh coal mine in Lampang, Thailand, strengthening its partnership with EGAT. In December 2025, an EGAT delegation visited the site in Mae Moh for their first round of inspections, covering the sizers, apron plate feeders, and associated drives. All equipment successfully passed inspection, and MMD added that work is progressing well as it continues building the two Semi-Mobile Sizer Stations.
MMD says the installation will be a significant step toward enhancing operational efficiency and sustainability in coal production at Mae Moh.
