equivalent to reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 720 t, and therefore helping Rio Tinto achieve its goal of combining cost effective technology with reducing carbon emissions in mining.
There have been challenges – before the delivery of the solution, Rio Tinto had put forward 47 detailed safety requirements based on its strict OT on-site operation standards, covering multiple dimensions such as battery swap fault handling, equipment maintenance safety, and power isolation. Qiyuan Green Power says it has fulfilled these in full, including adding 12 new safety hardware elements to the battery swap station, plus building additional facilities on-site to guide front-line workers in managing the technical aspects of the system. All the seals of the battery swap station are regularly inspected one by one, and an outdoor seal acceptance of the battery swap station has been completed, significantly improving its operational safety index.

Deswik enlarges global footprint with new Indonesia office
Deswik has opened a new office in Jakarta, Indonesia, and made plans to host a customer event, Deswik Exchange Jakarta, on April 16.
Supported by a local consulting team, this fortified in-country presence reflects Deswik’ s long‐term commitment to Indonesia and focus on delivering practical technical software and consulting solutions, shaped by real‐world mining experience, the company said.
“ Local presence is essential for Deswik in Indonesia,” Ben Farquharson, Territory Manager and Business Development Lead for the Asia region, said.“ The mining industry here is large, widely dispersed and historically underserved by remote support models. Establishing a Jakarta office and expanding our team in Indonesia ensures we can provide consistent, trusted and long‐term support for our customers.”
Several new Jakarta-based team members across consulting, business development and technical services have joined Deswik – a Sandvik company – in the Sandvik office.
“ We welcome the Deswik team into Jakarta,” Teguh Kurniawan, Territory Manager for Indonesia, says.“ We have a large customer base that we are serving in
8 surface and underground operations that will benefit from this dedicated local support with Deswik. Our Indonesian customers are always looking for ways to increase production or reduce costs, or both, in their operations, therefore being able to support a global product locally is great and well received.”
Farquharson added:“ A dedicated local team is crucial to supporting Deswik’ s customers in Indonesia. The team we have assembled brings deep local experience and all are highly regarded in the region.
“ These appointments reflect our priority on customer‐led service, capability building and stronger alignment with Indonesian mining organisations.
“ We will be continuing to grow the team throughout 2026 and beyond.”
The Deswik Indonesia team will work closely with Deswik’ s global network of more than 200 mining engineers and specialists, enabling seamless end‐to‐end support across mine design, planning, optimisation, scheduling, survey and environmental
workflows, it says.
The company added:“ This integrated approach provides Indonesia’ s mining companies with access to a software ecosystem and consulting capability that is industry proven and continuously evolving in partnership with customers.”
Deswik Exchange Jakarta is set to bring customers, technical leaders and industry partners from across Asia together, to highlight this region’ s diverse mining community and showcase Deswik’ s end‐to‐end planning capabilities in the region. The conference will feature technical presentations, hands‐on discussions, networking opportunities and expert insights from the Deswik Indonesian team.

SANY agrees 100-strong electric fleet deal with Holcim
SANY Group and Holcim Group, a world leader in innovative and sustainable building solutions, have officially signed a Letter of Intent( LOI) in Guangzhou. The two companies announced a procurement framework totaling 100 million Swiss francs( CHF) over the next five years, focusing on the large-scale deployment of electrified and autonomous construction technology.
Key executives, including Peng Song, Board Director of SANY Group, and Ram Muthu, President of Operations Excellence and Strategy at Holcim, attended the ceremony to witness this milestone in industrial decarbonisation.
Under the agreement, SANY will deliver 100 units of electric equipment within the next three years and deploy 20 autonomous mining trucks across Holcim’ s global operations over the next two years. This partnership scales up a collaboration that began in 2019, aligning SANY’ s cutting-edge low-carbon solutions with Holcim’ s“ NextGen Growth 2030” strategy.
The expansion follows successful pilot programs using SANY’ s SY500H excavators and electric fleets in Europe and Latin America.“ The economic viability and Total Cost of Ownership( TCO) advantages of SANY’ s electric equipment have been thoroughly validated in real-world scenarios,” said Ram Muthu.“ This gives us the confidence to accelerate our transition toward a net-zero fleet.”
Beyond hardware, SANY will integrate its expertise in fleet management systems( LoT), intelligent driving, and automated dispatching to help Holcim achieve autonomous, high-efficiency operations. These technologies are expected to significantly enhance site safety and operational sustainability.
“ SANY is committed to its‘ Three Transformations’ strategy: Globalisation, Digitalisation, and Decarbonisation,” stated Peng Song.“ By partnering with a global giant like Holcim, we are proving that Chinese high-end machinery can lead the way in premium, sustainable engineering scenarios worldwide.”
With Holcim reporting net sales of 15.7 billion CHF in 2025 across 43 markets, this collaboration marks a decisive step for the construction industry in meeting global climate targets through industrial-scale innovation.
In Poland, Holcim has already launched trials of an innovative SANY electric quarry dumper, and was the first company in the country to do so. At its Małogoszcz quarry, two SKT105E electric haul trucks are in operation, while at the Dolomite Quarry in Radkowice, the gravel pit in Sępólno and the Kraków plant it has deployed electric wheel loaders.
