The latest developments include a fully autonomous LHD , which works through the full LHD cycle , with auto-loading , navigation , auto-dumping and repeat . “ The GHH Automated Vehicles can operate completely without supervision and network coverage , as all required algorithms run on the vehicle itself . Also , the effort to expand the automated operation area is very small as only battery powered tags need to be added to the stope every 50 m . GHH Automated LHDs also work in collaboration with automated dump trucks . Once the dump truck is in loading position it informs the LHD to load it . All fully autonomously . GHH and its automation partners will also integrate any other make of equipment into the automated loading and hauling system of the future .”
Paus enhances 8000 series underground trucks
The new PMKM 8030 from Hermann Paus Maschinenfabrik ( PAUS ) was designed for the underground mining and especially for narrow conditions . It is one of the most compact and powerful machines in its class . Particular attention in its development was paid to high productivity -– achieved by a compact design and high tonnage payload , state-of-the-art and high performance components , short cycle times , and easy maintenance – all combined with the PAUS characteristics of a mine-proven and tough machine design for durable use at challenging underground conditions .
Highlights of the PAUS dump truck series also remaining in the design of PMKM 8030 are the rotating driver ' s seat for long distances of driving backwards at high speeds ( bidirectional ) and the spacious and even more comfortable driver ´ s cab .
Whereas the well-established sister machine PMKM 8010 has less width but increased length and height , the new PMKM 8030 has a broader , shorter and narrow design at a reduced loading height and with improved driving characteristics due to the lowered centre of gravity , bigger tyres and new axles with integrated oscillation . With a payload of 16 t the machine is equipped with an 8 m ³ dump box .
As mines are getting deeper and the dump trucks have to drive up longer and steeper ramps , the PMKM 8030 can be equipped with a choice of different Cummins and Caterpillar diesel engines at different exhaust stages powered with up to 190 kW . The machine is also available with the latest exhaust stage EU Stage V / Tier 4 Final – eg for use as CEcertified machine for the use within EU .
With the more powerful driveline and the increased performance at reduced lifting and tipping times the overall cycle time has been reduced significantly . Plus the standard configuration and improved cooling concept make it ready for operations at ambient temperatures from -20 ° C to + 50 ° C . The machine is equipped with the PAUS standard safety package for underground mining machines that includes SAHR brakes , a ROPS / FOPS cabin , enhanced LED lighting etc . Further state-of-theart safety equipment like a button for brake test , 3-point seat belt , seat belt and / or seat contact monitoring , different HRD onboard fire extinguishing systems , birds-eye view camera , tyre pressure monitoring , gas monitoring system and others are available as an option . Features like a weighing system , IoT interface ( s ) for data communication ( PAUS CONNECT ), an Arctic package to operate at lower temperatures , dump boxes for high and low density materials , a rear flap and many more options are also available . PAUS concludes : “ The selection of new components , the arrangement and a variety of options available along with the machine make the new PMKM 8030 as a more durable , more efficient and more easily maintainable machine for , first and foremost , economic use in underground mining .” PAUS will showcase the machine with brand new smart features during bauma 2022 in Munich .
