A more recent PNP Cat R1700 project - rebuilt and back in action in nine weeks in late 2021 at King Vol zinc mine . Major components were rebuilt , including the vent reduction engine , recored radiator and intercooler . The team also resealed all the tanks , re-hosed , re-wired plus blasted and painted . This was also the first of PNP ' s underground fleet to be fitted with the Newtrax productivity kit , enabling real-time data logging , monitoring loads , machine condition & operator status
( reduced bridging ) and a faster stope cycle time .”

The scope of work for each truck included complete strip & chassis NDT , reconditioned 3516HD engine , upgrades & repairs , blasting & painting , replacement of hosing & wiring , transmission , torque converter , main drive shaft , pump drive , wheel ends , differential , suspension , hoist & steering cylinders , cab , radiator , certified rims and tyres and WA mine-spec fire suppression & greasing system .
The OEM dealer rebuild
Looking at surface mining equipment and rebuilds by dealers , Cat offers some great examples . Over in Brazil , Six 218 t Cat 793D trucks from Brazilian iron ore mining company CSN have gained a new life after undergoing a complete overhaul via a Cat Certified Rebuild . The work was made possible by Cat dealer Sotreq , from the
conception of the project to the execution of the rebuilds , at its Vespasiano site near Belo Horizonte . For the mining company , renovating a high value-added asset represents an excellent cost-benefit ratio . The results with the reconstruction of the equipment are still being evaluated by the company , but the performance is already demonstrating the efficiency of the rebuild works carried out .
