“ In the current environment , having stock to hand is a big plus and we are seeing the benefits of this where some of our competitors are sold out ,” van den Berg said .
The company may start picking up more regular mining equipment rental business in the near-term , with Sandvik Rental Solutions set to establish a base in the US .
“ We do offer rental solutions in the US through our dealer network , but we see various appetite from the dealers for this ,” van den Berg said . “ By having our own complementary rental solutions , we think we can gain market share in this key region .”
All-electric equipment leasing
Epiroc , too , has witnessed a drop in demand for its equipment finance solutions , with sales of its rental equipment falling to SEK106 million ($ 10.7 million ) in the most recent December quarter , from SEK118 million a year earlier . For 2021 , its rental sales were SEK348 million , which was a decline on the SEK376 million posted in 2020 .
Yet , this year , the company scored a major equipment leasing win from Norway-based Nussir ASA .

wider zero emissions partnership between the two companies . This will see the Norway-based company source its primary mine development and production fleets from Epiroc .
Undoubtedly one of Europe ’ s and the world ’ s most progressive mining projects , and a potential contender for the title of the world ’ s first truly allelectric mine , Nussir plans to develop a copper mine in Kvalsund , northern Norway , extracting ore from the Nussir and Ulveryggen underground orebodies , which have current reserves of 162,000 t of contained copper , according to a
recent report from SRK . The resource including inferred tonnes is close to 80 Mt at 1.4 % copper equivalent .
The mine is located on Repparfjord and is expected to begin construction this year . It has the potential to produce about 50 % of Norway ’ s consumption of copper . All Nussir ’ s electricity needs will be covered by renewable energy sources and it will use a 100 % battery-electric vehicle fleet of 47 machines , including the primary mining fleet plus utility vehicles .
The leasing partnership with Epiroc includes both the ST14 Battery LHD and the MT42 Battery truck , as well as drilling equipment .
Expanded Canadian network
