REPROCESSING AND RETREATMENT
ores the mining industry has previously struggled to process .
Jetti ’ s technology could be well suited for application at some of Teck ’ s assets with potential copper resources outside of existing mine plans , according to the companies . Its solution , Jetti says , could integrate seamlessly with existing leach technology to recover copper trapped in ore previously not considered for traditional processing .
Evaluation of Jetti ’ s technology has already begun and considers testing programs and the establishment of on-site catalyst addition facilities where appropriate to test run-of-mine material . Thereafter , and subject to satisfactory results and receipt of all relevant approvals , Jetti will work with Teck to potentially implement the technology at commercial scale .
Teck and Jetti will also work together to measure and assess the environmental benefits that could result from the application of Jetti ’ s technology to already mined material . Such benefits are expected to include reductions in water consumption , GHG emissions and power consumption .
Mike Outwin , CEO and Co-Founder of Jetti Resources , said : “ We are excited to have an opportunity to prove the significant commercial and environmental benefits which could be created from the application of our technology through sustained reductions in water usage , energy consumption and emissions .”
Jetti ’ s technology has displayed its efficacy at the Capstone Mining-owned Pinto Valley copper operation in the US where it has successfully demonstrated its positive economics treating material at the existing dump leach operation .
During the first year of Capstone ’ s partnership with Jetti , cathode production per area irrigated doubled , with Pinto Valley able to start filling underutilised capacity at its solvent extraction and electrowinning ( SX-EW ) plant .
Having already defined a plan to increase cathode production to 300-350 million pounds
Heritage Minerals is set to build a 2 Mt / y plant to reprocess some 10 Mt of tailings ( averaging 1.1 g / t Au ) from the historic Mount Morgan mine in Queensland , Australia
( 136,078-158,757 t ) from residual and high-grade waste over the next two decades with the help of Jetti ’ s technology , Capstone is now in the middle of a prefeasibility study to expand the use of the catalytic leach technology . The miner has also mooted the potential inclusion of the technology at its Santo Domingo project in Chile , where it could potentially help leach material from the sulphides . IM

REGISTER NOW : www . minesense . com / webinars
International Mining and MineSense have partnered on a series of webinars focused on unlocking new orebody knowledge at the mine face . Moderated by IM Editor Dan Gleeson with a panel of MineSense and global mining experts , the first webinar in the series will discuss how MineSense ’ s digital mining solutions – headed up by its flagship ShovelSense technology – enable precise ore-in-waste and waste-in-ore routing decisions that can increase profitability and improve sustainability .
Learn how real-time shovel-based ore
sorting at the face can help reconcile block
models , improve grade control and verify
ore / waste boundaries in this interactive
session , featuring real-life examples from
global mining operations .
