MINING SCREENS goovi ® is the name of a newly developed multi vibrating screen from thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions with new patented drive technology in combination with an innovative control system it says providing a significant increase in operational flexibility , product quality and performance , coupled with greatly reduced weight and height
coupled with greatly reduced weight and height ,” says the company . Achim Schönfelder , Head of Product Line Screens and Feeders at thyssenkrupp Mining Technologies : “ With the goovi , all vibration modes ( circular , linear and elliptical ) can be realised in one machine , allowing flexible adaptation to changing job requirements and material properties . In addition , the low height of the goovi facilitates simple installation in existing plants .”
The goovi is driven at four different points , one on each side front and back , resulting in an optimum stress distribution in the side walls . It also uses fewer rotating parts than conventional screens , which translates into significantly lower weight and height as well as reduced maintenance and wear . Two or three standard unbalance motors are installed at each drive point , so each goovi is driven by a total of 8 or 12 motors , depending on size , which are synchronised via a patented PLC supplied with the machine .
With the patented control system , speed and flow direction can be steplessly adjusted so that all important operating parameters can be optimally adapted to the requirements of production at any time . In addition , with the goovi it is possible to react flexibly to changes in material properties ( eg moisture ) during operation and optimise the processing of difficult-to-screen materials . Different product qualities can be saved in recipes and retrieved as required at the touch of a button via the touchscreen supplied .
The goovi can also be integrated into control loops for product optimisation . There is a preset cleaning function for the removal of clogged particles . The goovi is fully digitised and can be integrated into a higher-level control system , paving the way for Industry 4.0 in processing plants .
Peter Berlitz , Product Manager Screens at thyssenkupp Mining Technologies : “ To optimise costs and delivery times , thyssenkrupp has
developed a range of standard machines . The single-deck and double-deck versions are available in six different widths and four different lengths with a maximum screening area of 26 m ². However , due to the straightforward modular design , custom solutions tailored to a particular application can also be supplied .”
Vibramech success backed by R & D
South Africa-based screens major Vibramech says its exclusively appointed R & D mechanical engineers focus their competencies on a wide range of structural improvements and innovative design changes , across all of its products . “ They conduct continuous research programmes on a variety of applications , ranging from isolator optimisation to structural dynamic and fatigue optimization of complete screens and feeders . Vibramech believes that its in-house R & D will minimise their clients ’ investment costs through optimum design and result in the production of even more durable equipment .”
It says the R & D team utilises the most advanced simulation software to conduct finite element analysis ( FEA ), as well as multibody dynamic analysis to improve engineering efficiency and reliability of components in their design phase . This is complemented by practical tests such as destructive and non-destructive testing , modal analysis , vibration analysis and strain gauge measurements to ensure that integrity and reliability of its products are maintained .

Vibramech has also recently started to employ the latest technologies such as wireless sensors to continuously monitor the performance of its client ’ s equipment . “ This enables Vibramech to constantly monitor the health and condition of the equipment in the field , with potential breakdowns on site being rectified before the client is even aware of such problems . This continuous monitoring will lead to reduced
HAZEMAG ’ s mobile and modular screen for OCP
Moroccan phosphate mining giant OCP has a long and ongoing relationship with Germany ’ s HAZEMAG but the latest crushing and scalping unit supplied stands out in terms of innovation – it is all at once compact , modular and mobile but also capable of 3.5 Mt screening and crushing per year .
Recently , commissioning tests of the mobile crushing and screening unit at the Benguerir phosphate mine commenced . In all , 1,250 t of equipment was supplied including a 750 t main unit . It integrates equipment with new technologies such as silent screening using 15 mm disc scalpers , an innovative metal retaining wall capable of supporting 190 t class mining trucks , a five-module mobile system , and remote monitoring capability for production and maintenance indicators . The crushing system utilises a HAZEMAG HHI Horizontal Impact Crusher .
The project is a collaboration between HAZEMAG Germany , HAZEMAG Morocco , Charcomem and Sphinx , on one side and OCP plus JESA ( 50 % OCP ; 50 % Worley ) on the other . Located some 70 km north of Marrakech , Benguerir is the newest of Morocco ’ s four phosphate mining centres , having started production in 1979-80 . The mines at Benguerir and Youssoufia together make up the Gantour system , the thirdlargest phosphate mine in the world . Phosphates from Gantour are transported to Safi for processing and export .
