Sary Arka Copper Processing in Kazakhstan recently commissioned a suite of customdesigned products from Telestack to use in a complete truck-receive , material transfer and heap leaching application for stacking copper ore
of movement required to produce a linear stockpile of approximately 100 m wide . The copper ore is then fed onto a TS850 trackmounted Radial Telescopic Stacker . The final unit of the system is a 46 m radial telescopic stacker that stockpiles the copper ore to a height of 14 m at 18 °. The unit has six various stockpile programs including “ flat top ” stacking mode , however , the unit can also be operated via radio remote control .
The suite of units is currently producing at a capacity of 2.4 Mt / y-plus and proving to be an integral part of the post-processing phase of the operation , according to Telestack .
Super Portable mobile stacking
Terra Nova Technologies ( TNT ) was recently awarded a contract for the supply of additional 72 in ( 1,829 mm ) wide by 250 ft ( 76 m ) long Super Portable ® conveyors and associated mobile stacking equipment by a “ top tier ” mining customer for a large copper mine in the US .
This equipment will expand an existing Super Portable heap leach stacking system , which has been in operation since 2014 , the company , a subsidiary of Cementation Americas , said . TNT Super Portable systems have been successfully used in high-capacity multi-lift heap leach , dry tails and waste stacking applications up to 10,000 t / h .
TNT says it has supplied over 85 % of the world ’ s heap leach stacking systems , including three of the world ’ s largest mobile stacking systems at Freeport-McMoRan ’ s El Abra ( Chile ), Safford ( USA ) and Morenci ( USA ) mines .
The company said the Super Portable System Technology is the result of years of innovative design work that is revolutionising heap leach stacking systems .
“ Innovative , yet simple , this technology reduces scheduled down time and increases system mobility and operational flexibility ,” TNT explained . “ The portable conveyors are truly mobile , being equipped with all-track propulsion and on-board generators . This allows rapid redeployment of the conveyors from cell-to-cell and lift-to-lift .
“ TNT ’ s Super Portable system includes several other subtle design features that show our
knowledge of heap leach and other stacking operations , and an appreciation for the client ’ s operating costs .”
The Super Portable technology uses tube steel profiles to provide the best weight-to-strength ratio , and to keep ground-bearing pressure within the specified range , according to TNT , while offering the optimum combination of constructability , manoeuvrability and operational benefits .
Mobile stacking conveyors from TNT are likely to increasingly find a home in the Asia-Pacific region thanks to an increased presence in the region , according to the company .
TNT has recently bolstered its team here with Lee Hillyer , General Manager – Australia & Asia Pacific , who is based out of the Perth office in Western Australia .
Hillyer , speaking to IM in late October , said the company was in the process of building out this team , using the company ’ s previous expansion in South America as a blueprint .
“ It will be similar to how we worked in Chile where , after gaining a foothold in the region with some major projects , we established an office in Santiago able to service this demand ,” he said .
In Australia , specifically , having “ boots on the ground ” will be important for TNT winning business , according to Hillyer .
“ Our primary focus is on the crushing , conveying and stacking system side of things ,” he said , adding that the potential project pipeline for these solutions in Australia , particularly Western Australia , is vast .
The company , as part of the wider Murray & Roberts Group , will be able to offer these solutions on a full engineering , procurement and construction ( EPC ) basis , leveraging input from group companies Clough on large open-pit installations and RUC Cementation on underground projects .
