Furukawa starts introducing ROBOROCK
Looking at other OEMs around the world , Japan ’ s Furukawa Rock Drill Co Ltd has developed a semi-autonomous drill jumbo , the J32RX-Hi ROBOROCK ® and started domestic sales in 2020 , but is now focussing on global markets . It has been developed to ensure worker safety , improve productivity by improving the efficiency and accuracy of drilling work , and address the shortage of skilled workers . The new machine allows high-precision drilling to be achieved by one person , even if they are not skilled worker , in order to meet such market demands . The machine has innovative auto-drilling control that automatically controls the optimum drilling state according to changes in rock quality ; auto boom operation control that enables automatic drilling and automatic positioning ; an advanced control system that quickly detects equipment abnormalities using a monitoring system in the cabin . The user can also share data collected by the operation support system ( drill Net ) with the drill jumbo in real time . Finally the drill is
equipped with a high-power hydraulic drifter , the Furukawa HD250 , that supports large hole diameters and a high-precision MWD ( Measurement While Drilling ) function that can display changes in rock properties .
China ’ s LGMRT rolls out the UD391
China ’ s UD391 from LGMRT , the JV between Sandvik and Lingong Group , is a new compact and flexible single-boom development drill for drilling in narrow vein and mass mining as well as in tunnelling , in cross sections up to 34 m 2 . It is equipped with a Sandvik LD-50 rock drill and CBI drill control system , which delivers 18 kW percussion power for stable and fast drill performance , and long service life for rock tools . The universal LG-B26NV boom is fitted with 360 ° feed rotation , automatic parallelism large and optimally shaped coverage , for fast and accurate face drilling ande versatility . A direct control LG- CBI drilling hydraulic system with automatic control functions ensures the operator to focus on safe , fast and accurated drilling progress . The UD391 is mounted on a 4-wheel drive framesteered carrier , which features a safety canopy designed according to FOPS standard . The overall layout is designed for good visibility and stability in tramming in small mining drifts and tunnels . The development drill is easy to operate and maintain , and all daily maintenance could be done on ground level .
Combined drilling and bolting trend continues in China
Combining drilling and bolting one machine is also a new trend in China , including utilising the latest rock drill technology such as from Komatsu Mining-owned Montabert which is working closely with Siton and Kaishan amongst other OEMs . A good example of these machines is the Siton bolter CYTM41 / 2 , with Montabert HC25 rock drill for underground mining and small-medium tunnels . Siton says it is a brand new bolting rig , specially built for mine anchoring operations , suitable for underground mines , small and medium-sized underground engineering bolting operations . “ The machine adopts two hydraulic rock drills , one for drilling and the other for plugging bolts . A bolt library and mesh grabbing manipulator can be optionally installed according to requirements . It

has a high level of man-machine control , so that the operator ’ s attention can be more concentrated .” Safe and fast bolt support , the special bolt head has simple structure and high bolt support efficiency . It adopts modular design and can be customised according to all common types of bolts or combination bolts with lengths from 1.5 m to 3 m . Different specifications can easily realise the mechanised operation of drilling , hanging nets , and plug rods . The automation of bolt installation can ensure that the bolt support is efficient , stable in quality , and durable . The machine adopts diesel engine power for tramming , and the electric power supply is via a cable reel for in place drilling and bolting . The telescopic boom covers a working height of 5.6 m and a width of 5.1 m .
