Comparing the L140B with the L350B , Reynier said the size and voltage difference between the two battery-powered loaders in its line-up had “ compelled our engineers to increase the voltage on the L350B ”.
He reiterated the two will share as many similar components as is possible to ease the use and maintenance processes for existing Aramine machine operators , but he also highlighted several positive updates .
Reynier said : “ The ergonomics for the operator have been improved as the cabin is larger than it was on the L140B , and it is enclosed . Both the L350B and L350D have been made with a unique cabin design in terms of comfort and security . While the L350B will be equipped , as standard , with the same lithium-iron-phosphate technology the company has employed on all its battery-powered machines to date , Reynier did say clients will also have the option to choose Epiroc battery technology on the L350B .
Many existing L140B users will be using the QRS option on board the loader , which allows the machines to run longer by providing a quick disconnect battery module for swift battery swapping .
This existing QRS system with crane will also be available for the larger L350B batterypowered LHD . Reynier confirmed another battery-swapping option is also being worked on .
“ A new system for an autonomous battery swapping system without crane use is in development in our R & D department with a patent pending ,” he said .
What about a matching batteryelectric truck for the L350D ?
Reynier had this to say : “ Aramine ’ s R & D department is currently working on a bigger battery-powered mine truck , the T1200B , which will match the mining loader L350B , fitting the same gallery size . The T1200B will be able to carry three full buckets from the L350B .”

Higher payload in small envelope
Speaking of dump trucks , Germany-based Paus has released a new 16 t payload underground truck suitable for the narrow-vein mining market .
The brand-new PMKM 8030 dump truck is one of most compact and powerful machines in its class , according to Paus , coming with EU Stage V / US Tier 4 Final engine options from Cummins and Caterpillar with up to 190 kW of power .
Paus explained : “ Whereas the wellestablished sister machine , type PMKM 8010 , is a machine with less width at increased length and height , the new PMKM 8030 comes up with a broader , shorter and narrow design at a reduced loading height and with improved driving characteristics due to the lowered centre of gravity , bigger tyres and new axles with integrated oscillation .”
A more powerful driveline and increased performance at reduced lifting and tipping times means the overall cycle time has been reduced significantly , according to the company .
