MINING NETWORKS & CONNECTIVITY system, it comprises network equipment and a cloud-based operation monitoring system. With Nokia DAC, users can securely collect, process and host all generated proprietary data on site. Established in 1972, the Sandvik Mining and Rock Technology test mine provides the opportunity to test and demonstrate Sandvik equipment and solutions in a realistic environment that comprises several kilometres of underground tunnels. It offers in-house training, provides a forum for knowledge and technology development, supports customers with product testing and performs failure analysis. With the introduction of 5G SA, Nokia says it gives its customers the most comprehensive endto-end portfolio of high-performance 4.9G/LTE and 5G private wireless networking solutions in the marketplace. Raghav Sahgal, President of Nokia Enterprise said: “With the introduction of 5G SA, we setanew standard for our enterprise customers with a world-class line-up of private wireless solutions to meet their digitalisation needs, no matter their entry point or connectivity requirements. “Private wireless connectivity is central to our customers realising their long-term digital transformation goals. By delivering 5G SA, we’re paving the way to accelerate digitalisation in the most demanding of use cases such as automotive manufacturing, where cloud, robotics and autonomous machine operations create missioncritical demands for reliable low latency and high data rate.” Throughout development of its 5G SA private wireless solutions, Nokia has delivered in situ trials with customers and mobile operator partners since the first quarter of 2020. Nokia has more than 180 private wireless enterprise customers worldwide of which more than 30 engagements are 5G. Nokia has recently announced 5G private wireless deployments that include Deutsche Bahn, Lufthansa Technikand Toyota Production Engineering. Cisco adds Fluidmesh Looking at wireless mesh developments, Cisco in April announced its intent to acquire privatelyheld Fluidmesh Networks, a leader in wireless backhaul systems. Fluidmesh’s leading technology delivers reliable and resilient wireless solutions for mission critical applications, including large-scale distributed sites such as mines where signal strength can be challenging. Fluidmesh’s solutions are quick to deploy and configure, offering customers a cost-efficient, lowmaintenance solution. As an example of its mining offering, Fluidmesh developed a wireless industrial-grade IP solution for mining automation projects involving missioncritical condition monitoring, security and automation. Fluidmesh technology creates wireless mesh network infrastructures capable of streaming up to 500 Mbps of data, video, and voice and fully IP compatible. It can interconnect multi-vendor devices, sensors, security, and control equipment in hard to wire sites such as mines implementing a broadband wireless mining automation solution. A number of large mines have deployed Fluidmesh solutions to facilitate their digitalisation needs including being able to handle the ever greater burden of video surveillance of operations. A full list of potential applications of its wireless network solutions includes fleet management, live monitoring of mobile equipment telemetry, real-time video feeds for operations, video surveillance, access control, safety system monitoring, mobile field communications, field access to drill and blast data, mining management software and autonomous and semi-autonomous mining. The company currently has deployment in production in mines in Australia, USA, Canada, Chile, Peru, Mexico, Ukraine, Colombia, South Africa, and Namibia.. It has also worked with Joy Global (Komatsu Mining) and RCT. Most recently, Caterpillar announced in April that had completed the validation of Fluidmesh wireless technology that will improve networking capabilities for users of its Cat® MineStar™ Command automation offerings for hauling and dozing. The Fluidmesh solution, transmitting at 5 GHz end-to-end, uses artificial intelligence algorithms and dual-polarity TAKRAF 4.0 ADVANCED ANALYTICS AND REMOTE SUPPORT STRATEGIES Using data within the cloud environment, we are able to set up a variety of applications - that are tested and developed within our various R&D initiatives - for the benefit of our customers.
