Frontier-Kemper set for Warrior Met
Coal project
Tutor Perini Corporation, a leading civil, building &
construction company recently said that its
subsidiary, Frontier-Kemper Constructors, has
been awarded a contract valued at approximately
$63.7 million by Warrior Met Coal BCE, LLC for the
Blue Creek Energy Mine #1 project in Tuscaloosa
County, Alabama. The scope of work includes the
excavation and construction of the mine shaft,
mine slope, slope hoist and service hoist. Frontier
Kemper has extensive experience in hoist projects,
which are mainly managed through subsidiary
FKC-Lake Shore.
FKC-Lake Shore also recently provided designbuild
mine hoists with related appurtenances to
Nevada Copper's Pumpkin Hollow Mine. FKC-Lake
Shore was responsible for the design and
fabrication of the service hoist, auxiliary hoist,
controls and related conveyances. These hoisting
systems will be used to transport personnel,
equipment, and supplies underground in support
of mining operations.
A real hoisting innovation from FKC-Lake Shore
came in 2016 when it was contracted to provide a
new Vertical Conveyor System for the San Diego
Shaft at Fresnillo PLC's Fresnillo mine. The mine,
located in Zacatecas in central Mexico, specialises
in the extraction of silver. The vertical belt is a
FLEXOWELL ® S-shape system measuring 830 m in
length. The Vertical Conveyor System handles 200
t/h at 400 m of lift; with the belts from
Continental ContiTech. The system is still going
strong after more than three years. FKC-Lakeshore
says with this proven project it is now comfortable
with depths far greater than the current largest
installed depth of 400 m and that work is in the
pipeline on these designs.
Thyssen Schachtbau and Siemens
cooperation in Belarus & Russia
The first large components of two double drum
production winders for Slavkaliy’s Nezhinsky
potash mining complex in Belarus were recently
completed by Thyssen Schachtbau subsidiary
OLKO-Maschinentechnik GmbH. The first two
