ROCK TOOLS
No other existing technology
comes close in presenting a
similar wide range of
applications. Devico will release
additional accessories that will
open new drilling possibilities
with the DeviGyro in 2019 and
2020.”
Mincon’s prototype hub
The DeviGyro is all set for the Australian
market
training clients on the easy to use driller-
operated system. Due to the strong demand in
Australia for non-magnetic systems in reverse
circulation drilling and diamond drilling, Devico
will first fulfill existing pre-orders in Australia,
before launching in other global markets as well.
This new continuous DeviGyro recently
surveyed a 2,410 m in and out drill hole in just 76
minutes, collecting 45,600 survey data points to
accurately trace the drill hole path. A number of
different applications and innovations are
possible with the DeviGyro.
“Users will be able to survey as they drill in
overshot mode and will also be able to do core
orientation and gyro surveying in the same run
with the instrument placed in the head assembly.
Every Mincon rock tool product
starts life as an idea on paper,
however, it only becomes a reality when the raw
materials start taking shape. Until recently, the
prototype components for products in
development were manufactured on the same
production line as commercial products. Today,
Mincon’s prototype components are
manufactured at a bespoke prototype factory for
research and development. It’s at this facility
where a highly experienced, full-time team has
dedicated lathes and mills to rapidly develop
high-quality components for all prototype work
and one-off projects.
Although a prototype factory by designation,
the facility isn’t limited to manufacturing
components for testing. Mincon says it works
closely with its customers around the world,
taking their needs into consideration for ongoing
development and manufacturing of specific
components at the prototype factory. Located
BUIL T TO L A S T
close to Mincon’s headquarters in Shannon,
Republic of Ireland, the prototype factory
benefits from the group's existing resources,
such as a world-class heat-treatment plant and
talented team of design engineers.
Joe Purcell, CEO, Mincon Group plc, said: “We
are always looking at streamlining our
production to ensure maximum output and meet
demand. Our dedicated prototype factory allows
the Shannon factory to operate with the best
efficiency possible. It has also been designed to
supplement the output of the main factory – and
all of this means we can lower lead times and
guarantee availability.”
Each one of Mincon’s state-of-the-art
international production facilities uses the latest
technologies to ensure precision and quality
throughout the manufacturing process. Mincon
has production facilities in Ireland, Australia,
Canada, Finland, Sweden, South Africa, USA, and
the UK. The Mincon prototype factory is located
in Shannon, Ireland near the Mincon Shannon
factory, where Mincon’s leading DTH hammers
are designed and manufactured.
“Mincon has more than four decades of
experience in designing, manufacturing, and
servicing hard-rock drilling consumables and
solutions. Through its regional offices in key
markets, Mincon services the mining, construction,
water well, geothermal, quarrying, and energy
industries with class-leading drilling systems.” IM
