Director of Product Management Material

exceptional gear service for both DBS and third at the heart of a customer’s operation and are
key to that customer’s ability to deliver value. We
are excited to extend the smart condition
monitoring system capabilities to Falk A and Y
party industrial gear units.”
On the subject of Finland, DBS earlier this year
reported the opening of a new service centre in
Tornio. At the opening in February the company
showcased its state of the art condition
monitoring system, GearWatch with a
demonstration of the new hardware.
“GearWatch is a smart, compact and value-
adding tool for predictive remote process
equipment monitoring. It can be tailored to your
operating parameters and is monitored by our
team of experts. This is condition monitoring
with a difference, unlike other products available,
GearWatch uses an oil particle counter to
continuously monitor the condition of the gear
unit. Early detection of potential gear unit
failures up to a year in advance, allows the user
to plan maintenance activities around
operational requirements.”
The service centre’s resources DBS says will
enable the team to provide a wide range
gearboxes services, including workshop and field
units, and coupled with Rexnord Industrial
Services, provide a comprehensive monitoring
solution that can be retrofitted to these existing
mission-critical assets.”
A and Y digital connectivity is the latest
Rexnord advancement after previously releasing
a digital condition monitoring package for both
new and retrofit installations.
Bonfiglioli expands in Australia
Bonfiglioli has doubled the size of its Victorian
headquarters with a move to a new and
expanded facility in Carrum Downs, Victoria, near
Melbourne to better serve its customers through
increased stock levels as well as enhanced
quality and efficiency. The new 3,500 m 2 facility
with expanded Quality Assurance, testing and
production engineering capabilities can
accommodate stock levels double that of the
previous facility. The expansion was on the one
hand a reaction on the increased demand in the
services throughout the power transmission
lifecycle. APAC region and will help the Italian drive

Monitoring products.
The doubling will help Bonfiglioli to better
serve key Australian industries such as mining.

The recently introduced Smart Conditioning
Monitoring System (SCMS) provides customers
of Rexnord products in mining it says with the
capability to reduce downtime, extend asset life
and improve performance levels. “The SCMS
measures, records, trends, and displays drive
operating conditions and alerts specified users of
abnormal operating conditions. Our proprietary
algorithms continuously compare both individual
and aggregated sensor data against embedded
models of healthy drive operating conditions.
When an emerging or actual abnormal condition
is detected, contextual information about the
condition is simultaneously sent to users via e-
mail, the smart condition monitoring system
cloud-based software portal and/or your
supervisory control software, if connected to a
control system.”
This Smart Condition Monitoring System is
now available to current users of Falk A & Y Gear
Drives. This system can be installed on A & Y
Gear Drives either at Rexnord service centres or
in place without removing them from service, and
connects directly to the user’s existing PLC or
DCS system. “We at Rexnord are excited to offer

Flender and Wikov join forces on
global gear servicing
Major gear solutions suppliers to mining,
Germany’s Flender GmbH and Wikov Industry
based in Prague, Czech Republic have announced
a comprehensive service cooperation for gear
units from other manufacturers.
“Both companies look forward to this long-
term and sustainable partnership. Plant
operators will benefit from Flender's and Wikov's
comprehensive service portfolio, now also
available for gear units from other manufacturers.
The key objective is to provide customers a one-
stop-service, globally. Plant availability is the key
driver of economic success across many
industries. Frequently, components from multiple
manufacturers are deployed in a single
application, which increases complexity of
maintenance for operators. Flender's and
Wikov's cooperation will enable their customers
to benefit from a one-stop-service. Both
companies are leading gear unit specialists, and
well known for their comprehensive and
competent service portfolio. By combining
resources, their customers will benefit from
Flender's service network with more than 50
repair centres globally.”

suppliers of helical, planetary, worm and
frequency inverter drives, offering specific
solutions for industrial and mobile equipment.
“Bonfiglioli drives are designed to withstand the experience regarding spare parts for gear units
from other manufacturers, and hence can provide
these with highest quality in short time. “Our

Australian climates, which experience high
temperature fluctuations and harsh climactic
extremes.”
One of the major features of the new Victorian
headquarters is a dedicated Quality Assurance
(QA) testing area, which includes the capacity to
locally test larger size electric motors and
gearboxes than the previous facility. “At the new
facility every Bonfiglioli product is QA controlled
both in and out, which means that every gearbox
that leaves our warehouse has been fully tested
and our customers can be assured that they will
