ROCK REINFORCEMENT increase production efficiency, and operator ease. An adjustable indexing system allows the operator to switch between drilling and bolting functions, while maintaining bolt alignment with drilled hole. The hydraulically operated bolt holding/loading carousel makes for a more efficient bolting cycle. The Independent feeds allow the operator to manoeuvre the bolter with ease, into difficult situations. Our patented flexible bolt centralizer is a simple and cost- effective design, it is made from a single casted part, with shape-memory material properties which allows the centralizer to flex out of the way of the bolt driver.” Split Set Mining Systems partners with Minova Ingersoll-Rand sold the Split Set ® group, now almost 20 years ago, to three different companies with jurisdiction in three different parts of the world: Australia and Asia, Europe Middle East and Africa, and the Americas. These companies were Phoenix Metalforms in Australia (for Australia and Asia, now known as Split Set Mining Systems or SSMS), Metal Service in France for Europe, Middle East and Africa, and International Rollforms for the Americas.  Minova (part of Orica) and SSMS have a long history of working together in East and West Coast but had never taken a step to formalise this relationship. With DSI finalising its acquisition of Fero, Minova says it saw an opportunity to partner with Split Set Mining Systems “to provide the West Coast market with an alternate ground support offer.” Split Set Mining Systems, part of the Phoenix group of companies, produces friction bolt products, which are recognised around the world. It also offers cable bolts, stabilisers, mesh and steel arches, with a strong client portfolio that includes BHP and Resolute Mining. Split Set Mining Systems, with its bolts and steel products, logistics and manpower, is complemented by Minova, which contributes its technical expertise, innovation and premium products (including resin, injection chemical, steel, fibre glass and ventilation control products), to the joint venture. As a result of the deal, Minova is no longer manufacturing its steels and bolts from its factory in New South Wales, eliminating costly shipping via its partnership with Split Set Mining. Minova also offers speciality products and services for niche applications like optimised ore recovery. Together the two companies will offer the market local manufactured steel products and warehoused resin and speciality products and services. “Our specialty products open the doors to customers that they’re not particularly able to 28 International Mining | AUGUST 2019 contact,” states Minova Marketing Manager Mandy Lubbe. “We’ve always been marketed as a technical leader when it comes to product development and innovation around our resin and chemical products. These are premium in the market and they work,” Lubbe says. Back in the Americas, International Rollforms has also worked with Minova over the years but in a looser form and it also use Epiroc as a distributor in parts of the Americas. Terry Karlsen, GM of the Split Set division of International Rollforms told IM: “As far as new applications, our product has not changed much in the past 45 years and it is still amazing how well this product is received and preferred by mining customers all over the world. A truly unique product.” The DSI OneStep mining bolt OneStep is a self-drilling mining bolt from DSI which combines the drill head, drill steel, bolt and adhesive resin in a single unit. “It offers a unique value proposition since drilling the hole, retracting the drill steel, resin capsule insertion, bolt insertion and setting of the bolt can be done in one single step. This permits faster installation cycles and better installation quality as well as ensuring that the highest safety levels are achieved.” The company says OneStep has developed a strong position in both development applications around rib support and also in longwall moves. DSI says it has also consciously decided to go against the trend of offshore manufacturing in countries with low priced production conditions and is creating additional jobs and a more manageable and responsive supply chain for customers in Australia. “With this development, DSI sends a clear signal in the development of new and innovative products even if the market space is currently stagnating. The ultimate aim is for the OneStep to become a primary strata support product and an important part of DSI’s Mining product portfolio. The OneStep Bolt integrates itself into the high quality offerings of DSI that are focused on providing customers with unique and tailored systems.” Ass a resin anchor, the OneStep also now provides longer shelf life through the use of DSI’s own resin cartridges. The Kestrel Coal Mine in Queensland, Australia was experiencing difficulties in securing the ribs. The OneStep Bolt was suggested as a solution, and testing was carried out to determine the peak shear load. Laboratory-based shear testing DSI Schaum Chemie recently inaugurated its new production, warehouse and testing laboratories in Mikolów, Poland. The facility holds a modern machinery and unloading park with storage tanks, preparation and mixing stations and a unit for packing finished products. The laboratory will participate in the control of production processes. The hall has stations for manufacturing polyurethane, silicate and phenol systems indicated that the OneStep Bolt offers an increase in shear capacity of approximately 15% over the currently used fiberglass dowel. Product trials showed that increased production rates are possible through a reduction in rib bolt cycle times. The mine has started a long-term trial, and if this trial is successful, it will implement the OneStep Bolt. Posimix and Dynamix The new DSI Underground Posimix Resin Bolting System is designed to assist in the installation of rock bolts with chemical anchors in larger diameter holes (35-38 mm) by providing: substantially enhanced mixing of the chemical resin anchors – increased load transfer capabilities – and the ability to be installed with a face jumbo as well as hand held machines. The Posimix wire centralises the bolt in the hole allowing an even distribution of the chemical anchor around the bolt. It also acts as an Archimedes screw pump forcing the chemical towards the back of the hole, assisting in mixing whilst consolidating the anchor for improved load transfer properties. The option of including a debonded region on the bolt means the majority of the energy is dissipated by deformation of the bolt within this region. The Dynamix resin anchored bolt system is designed for high static load and dynamic energy absorption. “The high strength bar consists of a number of anchor points along the length of the bolt, this combined with the addition of our proven Posimix wire resin system ensures correct resin mix for maximum load transfer in rockmass conditions including rock burst and squeezing rock areas.”   PYBAR awards DSI ground support contract Earlier this year PYBAR Mining Services awarded DSI Underground a contract for the supply of
