Conclusion
Although there is a place in a paste pipeline for
automated valves and cleanout tees it is proposed
that this device fits a specialty niche between
those two extremes and offers a superior pressure
relief capability than cleanout tees or blasting
tees, while doing so at a much lower cost than an
automated valve. We believe that these devices
should be installed at approximately every 300 m
spacing in a paste backfill line to ensure that a
safe and reliable depressurisation option is
available throughout the pipeline.
