HEAVY ENGINEERING
is currently testing a new, yet to be named, cast
lip system that it says will transcend the
Penetrator line for performance and reliability.
Bradken has also developed a 3D laser
monitoring and reporting package “that offers a
huge value-add for our customers in the mineral
processing sector. Visioninsight is proof of our
commitment to being more than just a seller of
products, but rather a provider of solutions that
make a real, positive contribution to our
customers operations.” Developed by Bradken’s
Mineral Processing product development team,
the Visioninsight wear monitoring system
provides an overview of the expected wear life of
mill liners in-situ while at the same time
examining them for performance and wear and
identifying areas of improvement.
“Basically, what we’ve developed is a system
that uses a laser scanner (measuring device) that
when placed inside a mill during a maintenance
shutdown, scans the inside of the mill. This scan
is then compared to a previous scan or the
original mill drawings to determine what material
has worn away.”
A report is then produced which tells the
customer how their castings are wearing while in
use, providing them with a guide to the expected
wear life of the individual liners in the mill. “The
resulting performance data helps our customers
predict the required reline schedule and manage
their maintenance shut downs. This guide of
when castings are required to be changed
minimises any unnecessary downtime. The
Visioninsight technology also provides our
designers with important information to help
improve the liner design for these customers.
Knowing how a casting wears in a particular mill
environment will give us the opportunity to
improve our designs to better meet that
customer’s specific requirements.”
Visioninsight provides single part dashboard
monitoring showing all relevant information for
each individual liner in a clear, concise and easy
to interpret way. This system has been developed
and trialled in Australia over the past 12 months
under the watchful eye of Bradken’s Mineral
Processing product technology department.
Brad Drinkwater, Global Product Development
Manager for the Mining Fixed Plant business said
that the positive response received from
customers on these trials has led to the further
development of the package with the intention
now being to roll it out to our global customer
base. “We’re currently in the process of
conducting training to meet the expected
increase in workload that a global release will
bring and are on track for a limited release later
this month. If all goes to plan we’ll be able to
meet our expected global requirements in
December this year.”
“By backing our cast products with supporting
technology and services like Visioninsight, and
people behind the products that work hard and
really know their stuff, we are making it clear to
our customers that Bradken is a customer
focused business that they should want to work
with.”
CMS Cepcor crusher conversions
CMS Cepcor, while supplying mining crusher
parts globally, also has a major business for the
rebuild, conversion, installation and
commissioning of OEM crushers and just carried
out a Sandvik ® CH660 crusher conversion to a
CS660 for a large gold mining company. “CMS
Cepcor were selected as the genuine alternative
to the OEM as our re-build and conversion
proposal offered significant costs savings versus
purchasing a new Superior type crusher. The
customer’s decommissioned Sandvik CH660 was
returned to our Coalville crusher service facility
in need of major re-build having crushed millions
of tonnes of gold ore. Following detailed
inspection and testing the bottom shell was
deemed serviceable and was then processed
through our component re-build p
