UNDERGROUND DRILLING
Positioning System delivers full 360° radius
drilling with extreme accuracy. The Travers pivots
more than 180° in tight spaces without ever
moving the carrier and is capable of parallel
drilling, ring drilling, service holes, drop raises,
and cable bolting.
The StopeMate’s modular design with efficient
dismantling and reassembly makes it extremely
compact—small enough to be loaded into a lift
cage—and can be transported rapidly even into
captive areas. This drill is capable of drilling 51
mm to 76 mm holes and accommodates drilling
depths of 12 to 25 m.
Boart Longyear’s robust StopeMaster™
hydraulic production drill is designed for bulk
mining applications and is ideal for narrow-vein
applications. Also with a small footprint and
tramming capability, the StopeMaster is compact
enough for cage transport, level-to-level mobility
and optimum manoeuverability in confined areas.
Like the StopeMate, the StopeMaster utilises the
same Helac Positioning System and is capable of
more drilling patterns than any other platform on
the market. The rock drill will drill 64 mm to 106
mm holes, and can accommodate drilling depths
from 20 to 35 metres. The unit is diesel powered
and self-propelled with a 4-wheel independent
drive that can be disengaged for towing.

new Production
Master 2.3
longhole rig. The company has
sold three of the machines to Hindustan
Zinc in India, with the first shipped in October
2017, the second also shipped and a third on its
way, with discussions ongoing with potential
customers in Chile and Peru. The rig uses a
Montabert HC112 rock drill and can drill 64 to 165
mm holes.
The machine was developed in cooperation
with CMAC Thyssen in Quebec, which developed
the feeder, and is used for parallel
(upwards/downwards) as well as vertical and
inclined rings and fan drilling. The positioning
system has 180 degree drilling table rotation and
360 degree feeder rotation. The carosuel type
rod handler enables the drilling of long holes and
is remotely controlled from the operator’s
Bluetooth control panel.
The rig has a diesel powered articulated
chassis with permanent 4-wheel drive as well as
fail safe wet multi disc brakes with additional
emergency parking brake. Hydraulic steering and
hydraulic controls help ensure low operational
cost and high performance. It employs a Dana
off-highway powershift transmission and off-
highway drive axles, with a liquid cooled Deutz
engine. The rod ahndler has a capacity of 16+2
rods. Options include a closed cabin with goose
neck solution, electric operation via cable reel
and voltages to suit customer requirements.
Tight space is always a challenge for
equipment suppliers, especially when it comes to
providing very good reliability, safety and
productivity in a limited area. For this kind of
applications Mine Master developed a highly
productive narrow vein drilling rig, the Face
Master 2.5, which recently has been modified to
suit even more challenging conditions in tighter
spaces. The name of this new machine is the
Face Master 2.1. Due to a very low height in mine
cuttings in one of the mines in Uzbekistan the
machine’s tramming height has been reduced
from 2.5 m down to 2.1 m. In order to reduce the
height the whole steel structure has been
modified and the following parameters have
been changed: reduced height of rear platform:
FM 2.1 = 1,920 mm; reduced height of the
operator’s platform: FM 2.1 = 630 mm; reduced
weight of the chassis: FM 2.1 = 8,566 kg; the
drilling panel has been repositioned for better
visibility during driving; minimum tramming
height is 2,100 mm; and it has a lowered centre
of gravity and symmetric mass distribution
provides stable tramming
on slopes with uneven
roads.
