MINING TYRES
directly from TyreSense wheel sensors mounted inside the tyres?”
TyreSense lead developer, Chris Demetrioff, accepted the challenge:“ We decided to develop an inflator / deflator that used our sensors to provide accurate temperature, pressure, and calculated cold pressure. This would allow for easy, uninterrupted inflation
The RIMEX TyreSense IDX pneumatic and controller box without having to stop the air flow to check tyre pressure.” Dave Laird continues:“ Because the TyreSense wheel sensor is always measuring chamber temperature, we could provide the option to inflate to a precise cold inflation pressure, indexed to 20 ° C / 68 ° F, as well as to the normal gauge pressure value. Input from more TyreSense customers also encouraged us to add the option of deflating a tyre to a pre-set value. This prevents over-deflation, which can unseat the O-ring when a tyre and wheel assembly is being removed for other service reasons.”
So, thanks to the requests of customers and the expertise of TyreSense developers, the IDX has been successfully designed to Iinflate and deflate tyres quickly and accurately; use cold inflation to optimise tyre pressure; and improve productivity during tyre maintenance( the self-regulating system frees time for tyre technicians).
The IDX provides these major advantages: n Delivers uninterrupted inflation without stopping the air flow for manual pressure checks, because temperature and pressure is continuously monitored by the TyreSense wheel sensor. n Inflates or deflates tyres to exact gauge or cold inflation pressures n Keeps personnel a safe distance from pressurised lines, using remote operating controls in a control box separate from the pneumatic enclosure n Time-based inflation settings – IDX works perfectly well without TyreSense wheel sensors n Weather-resistant – IDX can be mounted to the shop wall, on a mobile cart or on a service vehicle n Customisable – IDX has 32 unique preset groups, each with settings for cold inflation pressure, gauge pressure and time-based inflation. n Relay outputs – IDX provides external notifications for air-on and error conditions. n Inflation / deflation options – IDX has three operating methods: TyreSense Sensor( Control inflation or deflation with configured settings based on internal wheel sensor readings); Sensor Override – Use time-based automatic inflation or deflation to override wheel sensors; and Manual – Start and stop inflation or deflation at any point to manually trim pressures n Shut-down options – IDX has two automatic shut-down methods for inflation and deflation: Gauge – Terminates the operation when wheel sensor data matches the preset and Smart – Terminates the operation based on the current inflation or deflation rate n Battery-backed – IDX can be operated remotely or without main power service. Chris Demetrioff concludes,“ With features like our time based manual inflation, configurable cold pressure and gauge pressure setpoints, and robust fail safe and notifications, efficiency is improved for tyre personnel and productivity is enhanced for RIMEX customers.” IM
