MAINTENANCE
MetricsManager™ Pro enables mine management and maintenance teams to consolidate equipment data for the entire fleet
MetricsManager™ Pro enables mine management and maintenance teams to consolidate equipment data for the entire fleet. Utilising existing mine network infrastructure, the platform collects data in real-time from all three Motion Metrics systems.”
MetricsManager™ Pro provides live data analysis and long-term trending and analysis to help mine personnel both respond quickly to critical events and offer predictive maintenance solutions over routinebased or preventative maintenance.“ For example, mining personnel using the platform alongside ShovelMetrics™ are immediately notified of missing tooth incidents in the short term and, in the long term, can review wear monitoring logs to ensure teeth are replaced before they are too worn and negatively impact shovel efficiency.” The centralised portal is accessible from any internet-enabled device( laptops, tablets, smartphones) so mining personnel can access critical information from anywhere and easily incorporate the platform into daily workflows.
Raw data collected from digital monitoring solutions must be converted to useful information to add value to mine operations. MetricsManager™ Pro provides a mix of summary dashboards and drill-down reporting tools to quickly sift through large data sets and generate actionable insights. Mine personnel can configure customised alerts to notify appropriate decision-markers when incidents occur or productivity benchmarks are not met. Daily production reports provide summary information( eg tonnage, loading cycle statistics, etc.) for each shovel each day.
Barrick’ s Asset Health tool
Jami Dwyer is Barrick’ s Product Owner for the Asset Health tool, which will allow maintenance teams to digitally monitor the condition of equipment, such as haul trucks and their components. This will enable maintenance teams to work proactively, saving time and money.
Everyday maintenance goes beyond changing the oil and a few filters. Dwyer states:“ These are multi-million dollar machines with very complex electrical systems that require dedicated and well-trained technicians to keep them running. I’ ve been lucky to have many different roles and feel very lucky that I am now a part of the digital effort to transform the way we do maintenance. The goal of the digital projects is to make life easier for the people that I have worked with in the past. The Asset Health tool we’ re developing is going to benefit the mechanics and the shop supervisors. Instead of firefighting one breakdown after another, they will be able to focus on planned jobs making their days a lot less hectic and much more prioritised. Rather than running around trying to collect and verify data needed for maintenance work, data will all be available to our maintenance teams through the suite of Barrick Digital Maintenance products and software that are currently being developed.”
These digital maintenance tools will also save planners and reliability engineers hours per week, so that instead of spending time gathering data, they will be able to spend more time analysing data, prioritising planned work and making better and faster decisions.“ The time saved and the monitoring of asset conditions will help maintenance teams do their repair work proactively by catching failures before they occur and will allow us to extend component life while ensuring the equipment is still in good operating condition.”
The approach will decrease unplanned breakdowns and prevent collateral damage from failed systems – ultimately leading to improved availability and lower maintenance costs.
