MECHANISED COAL
Langfang facility in China manufactured the conveyor pans and drive frame structures. This contract marks the first complete LTCC conveyor structure to be manufactured in the Langfang facility.
Both the front face conveyor and the rear face conveyor will be about 250 m in length, and each will have a 2 x 1,050 kW drive system. The beam stage loader will be approximately 50 m in length with a 1 x 600 kW drive system. Surface commissioning of the entire system started at Majialiang mine in April this year. The longwall was expected to be fully operational underground in the second quarter, 2017.
Datong Coal Mine Group is the third-largest state-owned coal mining enterprise in China, after Shenhua Group and China Coal Group.
CNX Coal Resources LP has placed an order for 285 Cat longwall roof supports destined for use in the Enlow Fork mine in southwestern Pennsylvania, USA. The mine is one of three in the complex, which produced 20.7 Mt in 2015, making it the largest underground coal mining operation in North America. Enlow Fork currently operates two longwalls and seven continuous miner units and produced 8.2 Mt last year from the Pittsburgh 8 Coal Seam.
Working with the Cat dealer in the area, CB Mining, Caterpillar will supply 274 face roof supports and 11 gate end roof supports. The shields were built at Lünen and were delivered in
the first half of 2017. CNX Coal Resources is also equipping the longwall with the Cat PMC ®-R electro-hydraulic control system for advanced automation. The system has sufficient computing power and data transfer speed to allow adding remote and semi-autonomous face operation. The company currently operates five longwalls at the Enlow Fork, Bailey and Harvey mines, and all use the Cat PMC-R control system.
The roof supports have an expected service life of 60,000 cycles and will operate on 1,750 mm centres, with a shield density of 846 kN / m 2. The face supports will have an operating range of 1,295 to 2,743 mm, and gate end supports will have an operating range up to 3,048 mm.
CNX Coal Resources also will be using Cat Detect Personnel for Longwall, a personnel proximity detection system designed to enhance the safety of workers around longwall systems. Using radio frequency identification( RFID) tags worn by personnel and detection units mounted on the longwall roof supports, the system accurately and reliably identifies the presence of people on a longwall and transmits personnel location information to the longwall automation system. The control system then takes appropriate actions, such as inhibiting roof support movement and providing warning signals when necessary to avoid potentially unsafe situations.
The FRS-Glinik-25 / 55 will be the tallest powered roof support ever manufactured by Famur. A total of 40 of these will be designed specially for the W. D. Yalevskogo mine, which belongs to AO SUEK, Russia’ s largest coal mining company. FAMUR signed the machine supply contract with the Russian customer in June, in Moscow.
The FAMUR equipment is to be delivered to the mine in Prokopyevsk at the end of November this year. It is planned that they will be working on one of the more efficient longwalls.“ This shows that FAMUR specialises in the manufacture of systems for low and medium coal seams that are more than 5m thick” – adds FAMUR’ s Ireneusz Komoszyński.
This is the second contract that has been concluded by FAMUR with SUEK for the supply of powered roof supports. A contract for the supply of machinery for SUEK’ s S. M. Kirov mine was signed in March.
Bosnia and Herzegovina
A Becker-Warkop mechanised complex has been put into operation at the Kakanj mine in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In 2016, an agreement was signed between Bosnia state energy company Elektroprivreda BiH and Becker-Warkop( Poland) for this equipment. EPBiH manages six other coal mines – Breza, Gracanica, Abid Lolic, Kreka, Djurdjevik and Zenica.
