MINING APPS
“ We encourage all people working on our Liebherr Mining products to download the app. It is free and will make your job easier, faster, safer and more reliable. Stay tuned, more new apps for service will be released soon”, said Fabrice Gresser, General Manager Customer Support.
Ergonomics mobile app
A new mobile app for ergonomic audits in the mining industry is now available from the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health( NIOSH). The app, ErgoMine, is available for Android devices and provides an ergonomic assessment for three types of operations in the mining industry: bagging, maintenance and repair, and haul truck operations. By asking users a series of questions about work tasks and worksite conditions, ErgoMine produces recommendations for ergonomic improvements in a final summary which details the results of the audit. The app also provides the option for users to email the recommendations to themselves or others for further review.
The new app gives mine workers without formal ergonomics training, a tool for auditing their workplaces and identifying issues with their workplace conditions or with the way work is performed. Users of the app might review the tools and equipment on a worksite or other factors, such as postures adopted while working. The ergonomics and safety improvements suggested by the app can help prevent musculoskeletal injuries and promote health, safety, and efficiency.
ErgoMine is modular, and the app automatically selects appropriate modules based on the responses to questions about the nature of the operations at a particular site. The user can also choose to complete all or some modules to allow flexibility such as when doing a before-and-after comparison of a particular workstation.
The app, created by NIOSH’ s Pittsburgh Mining Research Division, is designed to work on Android smartphones and tablets, and comes with its own pdf help guide.

direction, how the Air Valve opens when the water is gone, how the adjustment sleeve brings the pump back to its original performance, and many other features.”
In the X-ray mode, the outer shell of the pump becomes transparent, giving the user a good view of parts inside the pump. In the Cutaway mode a part of the pump is cut away to let you the user inside the pump.
“ Thanks to exceptional wear resistance, our wear and hydraulic parts help to prolong the lifespan of Grindex pump equipment, while securing high efficiency. Use the interactive presentation to extract the hydraulic parts in an‘ exploded’ 3D-view, rotate the assembly in any direction by swiping, and zoom by pinching your finger across the display, while the impeller is spinning and debris is transported away from the seal. Grindex invented and patented the world’ s first air valve in 1960. Thanks to the
built-in motor protection and the air valve, our pumps run unsupervised for longer periods. See the water level lower as it is pumped away, and zoom in to see the air valve opening when the water is gone. Also see how the inspection plug chamber is connected to the rest of the pump and get a closer look at the seal cartridge.”
Grindex’ s SMART electronic surveillance system, first developed in 1990, is also a vital element in its pumps.“ With its three-fold motor protection, it shields the pumps from electrical problems. In the interactive presentation you can lift the SMART out of the pump in 3D-view, and rotate the assembly in any direction by swiping, and read about all features of the SMART.” For maintenance, users can see service animations of the inspection plug, and the oil plug and can see a quick readjustment to as new performance by the adjustment sleeve.
To use the app users need a handheld device and a target image. The app will work on IOS and Android devices, not older than about three years due to 3D rendering demands. The optimal device would have a fairly big screen and a powerful processor, but Grindex says it has successfully run it on iPhone 5 and newer. The target image is available in the Grindex Pump Handbook, page 5( small size; works well with a smart phone), in the Grindex Big Book, page 23( bigger size) and can also be downloaded from the Grindex website and printed in various sizes up to the full size of the pump. The Grindex Cutaway AR-app, launched in September 2016, consists of an Android version and an IOS version for handheld devices like tablets and smartphones. The app provides an interactive view inside a Grindex submersible drainage pump, in 3D X-ray or Cutaway mode. Miners can use it to learn more about submersible pumps in general“ and see the unique features of Grindex pumps in particular. Users can see animations where the hydraulic parts can be lifted out and rotated in any
