customers will readily have access to replacement liners, and in certain centres the refurbishment of ceramic-lined cyclones is available.
The Multotec Tornado 660 cyclone features an innovative inlet design which facilitates an increase in capacity. By retrofitting this ingenious Multotec cyclone to an existing cyclone cluster it may be possible to increase the capacity and at the same time reduce wear. This ensures optimum life of the liner.
This steel shelled cyclone can be equipped with the most appropriate liner for a given application thereby facilitating optimum performance and reliability. Liner options include engineered ceramic tiles or cast replaceable rubber liners. Haydon explains that the selection of liner is dependent on the commodity, the application and customer preference.
While the current cyclone offers a 660 mm diameter, Multotec will be expanding the range to accommodate other common sizes.“ This will allow all customers to experience the Multotec difference in product support,” Haydon concludes.
The ability to monitor wear on chute linings in a timely manner can provide processing plants with substantial savings in terms of operational and maintenance costs as well as reducing unplanned downtime. The Multotec Green Dot Tile, which features an integrated wear indicator was developed specifically to address this need.
Mark Jarrett, National Sales Manager of Multotec Wear Linings, says Multotec Wear Linings is the only ceramic tile manufacturer in South Africa to offer this feature, a clear indication of the company’ s commitment to providing customers with products that reduce the total cost of ownership by reducing maintenance, thereby increasing return on investment.
Jarrett explains that the innovative Green Dot Tile incorporates an integrated wear indicator which facilitates easier visual condition monitoring for customers.“ The Green Dot Tile features a twotone insert in the centre of the tile and as the tile wears down so does this insert,” he says.
“ The green portion of the insert wears down over time to reveal a red layer, which indicates that only 25 % of the tile thickness remains and the lining is therefore due for replacement. The system is so flexible that the dual colour of the insert can be changed to green and blue in, for example, an iron ore application, where red is not sufficiently visible,” he adds.
A proprietary process is used to form the insert with the combined colours and for the fusion within the tile itself to form a cohesive single tile. This process is key to the success of the wear indicator tile, as it provides the necessary integrity and strength consistency as well as enhanced wear properties for the tile to act effectively.
“ When doing an inspection on linings, it is very often not easy to determine to what extent the wear has taken place. This visible wear indicator on the Green Dot Tile makes this very simple and allows optimum preventative maintenance to take place,” Jarrett concludes.
The Green Dot Tile is designed to complement the company’ s flagship quick fit panels and facilitates a total maintenance-friendly solution.
Brubin pumps, Part of Letaba Pumps, showcased a number of innovative products at Electra Mining last September. One such innovation was the Brubin BA CIP( Cleaning in Process) hose pump. A stainless steel( 40 mmL) working model of this pump was displayed, a first for South African audiences.
“ So far, the international success of this pump design has seen over € 1 million being secured in
