New generation of Giants

The giant 75710 450 t truck is now officially available worldwide
BELAZ outlines how its record 500 short ton mining truck is anything but a marketing exercise , with proven results from mine testing and follow up orders
“ The Giant ” proves itself in record time

After its commitment during MINEXPO 2012 to build a truck with a 500 short ton ( 450 t ) capacity , OJSC BELAZ kept its word . During the celebration of its 65th anniversary in 2013 , BELAZ presented its 75710 dump truck . The truck was instantly a double Guinness Book of World Records holder ( being the largest two-axle dump truck in the world , and having the largest mining truck body in the world ).

Operational tests that took place in severe Siberian mine conditions have proved not only the reliability of dump truck with its unique payload capacity and new technologies but also showed a number of advantages where the BELAZ 75710 dump truck reduces operational expenses . This includes the optimum configuration of the propulsion drive system ( engine + drive system ), with one of the engines idling while travelling empty and as a result permitting the user to save up to 15 % in fuel consumption compared to 400 short ton ( 363 t ) trucks .
The application of dynamic unloading with the help of a powerful hydraulic drive also enables users to compensate for the time required to load additional volumes of ore or overburden into the dump body . Also , initial doubts about tyres in regard to the application of four double wheels have been dispelled during the operations in the customer mine . Quite to the contrary , the innovative steering kinematics have ensured high manoeuverability of the giant dump truck and also ensured 10 % less tyre consumption when compared with the classic 4 х 2 wheel base applied on rigid dump trucks up until now .
Because of these reasons , the Russian customer without waiting till the end of the trial period , placed an order for two more units of the BELAZ 75710 . Interest in the truck from other continents and especially from South America and North America began to be seen in 2013-2014 . But it was against the requirements of BELAZ ’ s own quality systems to let “ the Giant ” go on such a long logistical journey to another continent without first passing all of its tests in the most severe “ domestic ” mine operating conditions .
In time for MINExpo 2016 , BELAZ announces that the 75710 dump truck with payload capacity of 450 t ( 500 short ton ) is already commercially available . BELAZ states : “ Any mine in any part of the world can now become the first in its respective continent to dare to tame the highest
powered mining truck in the world , and the largest capacity mining dump truck in the world .”
New 100 ton class developments
Following the philosophy of the advantage of an electric drive system as the main element to minimise operational expenses , designers at OJSC BELAZ have been working not only to set records in the maximum payload capacity class , but also to establish records applying electric drive in the lowest possible payload capacities for that technology . In 2013 another unique dump truck belonging to the most required payload capacity – 90 t ( 100 short ton ) was developed and introduced – the BELAZ 75581 dump truck with electric drive .
“ The BELAZ 75581 dump truck at first started to conquer the Russian market bit by bit by coping with the extreme conditions of the Far North , that have made it one of the smallest Belarussian record holders already . Almost all dump trucks of the 75581 model that are in operation have annual operating figures ranging between 6,000 and 8,000 hours . The first two years of operation repeatedly proved the high operational characteristics of the truck . Besides , every operating hour of BELAZ-75581 dump truck enables users to reduce production cost .”
This is thanks to the following advantages : n Lower specific fuel consumption n Smooth running due to the application of an A-type lever in the front suspension that secures less dynamic loads of the truck components , providing better comfort for the operator n Smooth torque increase due to the application of the AC drive system enables the dump truck to overcome turns and slopes without jerks and spills n Short time required for technical maintenance n Positive ergonomics of the cab , informative electronic dashboard , with video monitoring system included in the basic specification . The electric drive system also means the application of a significantly lower number of components ( alternator , electric motors , reduction gears , control cabinet ) that permit mining users to save up to 50 % in oil use compared with mechanical dump trucks of the same class . At the same time it also permits users to save up to 38 % in maintenance time .
