Measuring performance
FloLevel Technologies’ Neptune is the first
purpose built in-situ analyser for measuring the
suspended solids of slurries. Specifically
developed for the flotation process in mineral
processing, this unique technology, the company
says, “gives reliable performance under the most
severe service conditions. It incorporates selfcleaning to provide long service life and minimal
maintenance.” Managing Director Robert Stirling
explains that “this device now has patent
protection and is the only self-cleaning
suspended solids density transmitter on the
market not affected by aeration. This provides,
for the first time, automatic feedback on a
continuous basis of the suspended solids loading
in each cell for water addition control to maintain
the exact solids loading requirement for greater
mineral recovery efficiency.
It again utilises the
acoustic array system
(self-cleaning) that we
developed for the rest of
the acoustic array analyser
system for flotation cells.”
Neptune has been
designed to provide a stable
signal, proportional to the
solids concentration in the
pulp/slurry under all
environmental conditions.
Its output can be used for
feedback to the water
addition and other control
functions for improved
flotation automation.
The Neptune analyser
can provide a full
suspended solids profile of the total
tank depth, by adding additional array
assemblies. IM
