ILOTA Communique 2019 Third Quarter | Page 2

Address James Hill, OTR, OTR-L I hope that everyone had a wonderful summer. ILOTA has been busy preparing for board elections and our annual conference. We are excited to be holding the conference at the Tinley Park Convention Center October 4 and 5. I am preparing a welcome address for Friday morning where I plan to share some of the new things ILOTA is doing. This year the conference will include a Keynote address from Dr. Mark Benn. We also hope that everyone will join us Friday night for dinner, awards, networking, and live music. This is a license renewal year and conference is a great opportunity to meet requirements for continued education. I always find it helpful in renewing my spirit. It is great to see colleagues I share this profession with and hear what they are working on. It’s inspiring to meet students and thought leaders, and it is nice for a change to be surrounded by people who don’t need me to explain what Occupational Therapy is. Elections this year are for President Elect, Director of Advocacy, and Director of Membership. ILOTA also has opportunities to serve in positions like Communique Coordinator, Continued Education Coordinator, and Bylaws. There are always opportunities to help us with conference, with advocacy efforts, and with tasks big and small to help the organization do a better job in making Illinois a great place to practice Occupational Therapy. If you have an interest in volunteering, please email our Executive Director, Tracy Repmann ([email protected]). Did You Know? On the website for the Illinois Occupational therapy Association (www.ilota.org), one can find a ton of information and great resources! Here is a small sampling of what one can find: • Awards: Fine out who has won awards in the past and how to nominate for current awards. • Board Meeting Minutes: Are you interested in what is going on with ILOTA? Does something interest you for which you may want to volunteer your time? • Earn CEU: Complete CE for NBCOT, and license renewal for the State of Illinois? • CE approval Process: If your company wants to offer CEUs, the approval process is listed under the “education” tab As always, calling the office at (708) 432-7640 or emailing [email protected] are options to have your questions answered by ILOTA.
