in IE for some of the most famous bands you can imagine , including the Rolling Stones and U2 . Indeed , walking into his house in Lakeview , his work area looked like what you ’ d imagine the Rock ‘ N Roll Hall of Fame should look like , with his original layouts ( updated as posters ) for Elvis Costello and the Clash . In the early days of desktop publishing ( mid- ' 80s ), Shelley embraced the transition from analog to digital without missing a beat . He recounted his teenage years growing up in the near Western Suburbs ( he worked a summer job with Chicago ( the band ) Hall of Fame guitarist Terry Kath ) while keeping his eye on the future . MTV-era Shelley hosted and embraced music video dance parties (“ Shelleyvision ”) at Park West and ( Cabaret ) Metro . He owned and operated one of Chicagoland ’ s first fashion and head shops in the ' 70s . He was a pioneer of multiple levels . Looking at his Facebook page and Twitter , his love of his son Shaun stands out , and his nightly get-togethers with close friends on Rush Street . They called him The " Mayor of Rush Street ," and they weren ' t wrong . He grew up in Old Town as it changed ; he was a modern-day Chicago musical historian . And that ' s just scratching the surface . We ' ll miss his designs and his friendship .
Chicago also lost another musical stalwart with the passing of Jason Plahutnik ., production manager at the Vic Theatre . The longtime soundman and production man was found unresponsive last month at the venue - doing what he loved best - prepping for a show . In a Facebook post , Jam captured the grief . " Our hearts are heavy with the loss of The Vic ’ s longtime production manager , Jason Plahutnik . If you ’ ve seen a show at The Vic Theatre during the past 25 years , he was there , behind the scenes , making sure that everything that happened on the stage went smoothly . Jason was an integral part of every performance , and we ’ re grateful for his friendship , his dedication , his easy smile , his cool demeanor , and his invaluable contributions to this historic venue ." His family has posted a GoFundMe at https :// gofund . me / 79ee07c3 .
