Continued from page 34 You would think that's easy, right? But unfor- tunately, making records isn’t that fucking simple. Mosh: Do you know how many new songs you'll introduce into the setlist? Karl Sanders: We've been playing three new songs live so far. We do “Long Shadows Of Dread,” “Vile Nilotic Rites,” and “Snake Pit Mating Frenzy.” They did really well in Europe; I was quite pleasantly surprised. Usually, when you play material for an audi- ence that they're unfamiliar with, that they haven't heard yet, you don't get much of a reaction because they're listening or they're confused; or they’re going, ‘What the fuck is this?’ But with these songs, the audience immediately picked up on. It was such a sheer blast to play it and feel the energy from the crowd. Mosh: Nile will be playing at The Forge on Nov. 13. What do you like the most about Become a Master of the Guitar playing in Chicago? Karl Sanders: Oh, Chicago! Fucking Chicago! Chicago is Chicago. It's incomparable. There's no other city like Chicago, dude. The people, the attitude with the crowd, it's really warm, so full of positive energy. And just being in Chicago has a certain energy. A lot of people can relate to when you go into New York, can you drive across the fucking bridge and see Manhattan from across from the river and it just fires you with this excitement. You feel this larger than life energy as soon as you arrive in the city. Chicago is like that, but it's a little calmer. It's a little more like, “Hey, come here and hang out with us.” That’s always the vibe I get when I’m in Chicago.
