VINYL PICKS FRANK ZAPPA F or many years, the Black Friday Edition of Record Store Day was the red-headed stepchild of April's main edition of RSD. The titles were less impressive, and it seemed like an after- thought cashing in on the Record Store Day name. However, since 2012 the little brother edition that takes place after the Thanksgiving holiday has come into its own. Though the exclusive vinyl list is smaller than the spring edition, Black Friday RSD has become a complimentary sibling that can stand on its own as an event. While your family may be waiting for Black Friday 2019 to purchase TV's, cloth- ing, or iPhones, the cool kids in the house will be ditching the unneeded material things for vinyl gold on November 29. Here's is a list of our favorite Black Friday RSD titles. Keep in mind each store orders music based on their customer's tastes and some staff favorites. Product lists are generally posted 3-5 days before RSD on social media. It's financially unfeasible for a mom and pop shop to order every RSD tile, so be patient. Pick your top titles and a few back-up titles and work off your Thanksgiving calories and during Record Store Day. ALICE COOPER: Billion Dollar Babies The godfather of glam rock's show was recorded at the Sam Houston Coliseum in Houston and previously released on the deluxe edition CD of Billion Dollar Babies in 2001. To mark this year’s Black Friday, this Nixon-era Cooper show gets a vinyl release. CHEAP TRICK Are You Ready Or Not? Rockford's Cheap Trick was at the top of their game in 1979, and this live con- cert at The Forum in Los Angeles features 44 illinoisentertainer.com november 2019 "I Want You To Want Me," "Surrender," and includes the best tracks from Dream Police. FRANK ZAPPA Peaches En Regalia Little Umbrellas This 10-inch vinyl picture disc from Zappa celebrates the 50th anniversary of Hot Rats. Side A will offer up tracks in mono, while the B-side will contain “Rhythm Track Mixes” of both LIZZO Coconut Oil The acclaimed vocalist gets her first vinyl release of her EP from 2016. PEARL JAM MTV Unplugged Pearl Jam’s March 1992 session was featured on a bonus DVD in 2009, but it’s never had an official release on CD or vinyl. The unplugged set features "State Of Love And Trust" from the soundtrack of the 1992 romantic comedy Singles, plus music from their debut album, Ten. MILES DAVIS Miles in Tokyo The jazz legend gets a pair of vinyl debuts: Miles in Tokyo and Early Minor: Rare Miles From The Complete In A Silent Way Sessions. U2 Three The Irish rockers 30th anniversary vinyl reissue of their 1979 EP, features remastered editions of the original tracks “Stories for Boys," “Out of Control," and “Boy-Girl, now with 2019 artwork.
