COVER STORY:
HOZIER
Talk about the shot heard 'round the world. Every
great once in a while you get a single like "Take Me
to Church," by Irish folk-rocker Andrew HozierByrne, who performs as simply Hozier. The song –
originally released over a year ago – has topped
charts all over the globe, and made the man something of an overnight sensation, Tom Lanham
reports in this month's cover story.

HELLO MY NAME IS DENNIS
Flip over the back of Styx's Greatest Hits CD and the list of
Dennis DeYoung-penned and sung songs is absolutely astounding. The fact that the Chicago native is no longer fronting the
band he co-founded may be one of classic rock's greatest travesties, though he's been far from idle in the 15 years since splintering with the current camp, releasing the double CD The Music Of
Styx: Live With Symphony Orchestra, a like-minded DVD based off
Chicago's very own Soundstage television series, the studio album
One Hundred Years From Now, an extensive theatrical staging of
The Hunchback Of Notre Dame. Andy Argyrakis talked to Dennis.

WIRELESS SOUL/HELLO MY NAME IS VINCE
Local heavy rock trio Wireless Soul, led by local 11-year old guitar virtuoso and vocalist Vince Minogue, has built a following the
old fashioned way, by playing dozens of live shows at festivals,
nightclubs (including House Of Blues, Reggies and Penny Road
Pub) and meet-and-greets. Vince and the band recently signed an
endorsement deal with Dean Guitars, logging another notch on
their belts. Vince emailed IE answering our most probing questions.
