Continued from page 34 album and they're still out there. IE: How is drummer Nigel Glockler's health after emergency brain surgery? Will he be making the tour? Biff Byford: Yes, he's doing the tour. We just finished building on the new album. Nine tracks are written already and he's just doing the drums on them in the studio. He's looking good and he's looking forward to coming to America and playing. So everything is a go. IE: On the Warriors Of The Road Tour, I understand you'll be featuring classics from Wheels Of Steel, Strong Arm of The Law and Denim and Leather? Biff Byford: We're going to be playing a few songs that we haven't played live before. We don't tour America much and I think a lot of people in the US want to hear a lot of the hits of the '80s. But we'll put some new songs in as well. IE: You mentioned you haven't really toured North America much. I think since your appearance at Rocklahoma 2009, you've gradually made it back here more often. Biff Byford: Yeah, we'd [previously] just come in and do like two or three shows, maybe New York, a couple shows in Texas and then go to South America. We stopped doing long tours [in the States] because we couldn't really get the venues. We were trying to get back to the U.S., and it's looking pretty good now. IE: Is Saxon in the process of recording a new album? Biff Byford: We're writing it at the moment. We're doing it a little bit different this time because of obviously Nigel being ill. Me and Nibbs (Carter) have written quite a few of the songs on this album simply because we were together and we sorted out the ideas. We recorded the tracks while Nigel was recuperating, then Nigel went in and redid the drums. So it is a little less live this time. There will be a time where we all play in the studio together. Since we were behind a little bit we had to do some different things, but it's sounding great. Saxon appears live on May 21 at Rosemont Theater.
