COVER STORY:
HAIM
Haim, the group revolves around Alana Haim, 22,
and her two older sisters – guitarist/vocalist
Danielle, 25, and bassist/vocalist Este, 28, plus longtime drummer Dash Hutton. And the group's kooky
camaraderie has paid off; Its whimsical 2013 debut
disc Days Are Gone bowed in at #1 and #6 on the U.K.
and U.S. charts, respectively, ratcheting up the buzz
surrounding the group to a near-deafening level.
Tom Lanham has the details.

HELLO MY NAME IS BILL
Carcass was one of the pioneers of the grindcore genre
in the early 90s. As time went on, this British outfit became
more and more musical. They successfully combined low
tuning with catchy melodies and blistering leads. The
band eventually broke up in 1996, only to reform in 2007
for a few tours. Surgical Steel was released last September,
and was quickly hailed as one of the best metal albums of
the year. Guitarist, Bill Steer, called IE's Mark Kadzielawa
from his East London flat only hours before boarding the
plane for the band's current Decibel US tour to share his
reflections on this very successful reunion.

GHOST OF A SABER TOOTH TIGER
Media
Two years into their relationship, Sean Lennon and Charlotte
Muhl formed their own experimental outfit called Ghost of a
Saber Tooth Tiger, named for a play Muhl wrote at 7 that her beau
unearthed when they moved in together. They talked to IE about
the new GOASTT and their new album Midnight Sun.
Chet Coppock wants his old gig back, and we agree.
