SPRING MOVIE PREVIEW
Marvel Studios' first female-led super-
hero film, written and directed by hus-
band-wife team Anna Boden and Ryan
Fleck, follows Carol Danvers (Brie Larson),
an ex-Air Force pilot imbued with special
superpowers of strength, energy projec-
tion and flight after her DNA becomes
fused with that of an alien during an acci-
dent. Danvers takes on the alter ego of
Captain Marvel and joins the alien Kree
military team as a member of the galaxy's
most powerful intergalactic fighters as
Earth becomes stuck in the middle of a war
between two alien worlds. The cast
includes Samuel L. Jackson, Ben
Mendelsohn, and Jude Law.

the guise of peace and unity, this film
explores the conflict from both the per-
spective of the oppressive, collaborative
government and the dissident rebellion
that rises to fight against it. John
Goodman, Vera Farmiga, Kiki Layne,
Machine Gun Kelly, Rupert Wyatt, Alan
Ruck, Ashton Sanders, Madeline Brewer,
Jonathan Majors, David Crockett and Erica
Beeney star in what could either be a bril-
liant film or a complete flop. March 22 • Rated R

Adelaide Wilson (Lupita Nyong'o)
takes her husband Gabe (Winston Duke)
and their two kids to the beachfront home
where she grew up. Haunted by a trau-
matic experience from the past, Adelaide
grows increasingly concerned that some-
thing terrible is going to happen to her
family. Those fears become a reality when
a group of masked strangers, known as
"The Tethered" cause tension and chaos for
the family. But the real horror begins when
the masks come off - and Adelaide and her
family come face to face with their doppel-
gangers. Shahadi Wright, Elisabeth Moss,
Duke Nicholson, Jordan Peele, Winston
Duke, Tim Heidecker, and Kara Hayward
round out the cast.

Lady Gaga has her Oscar (although not for
acting), and the theaters are once again safe
for movie-loving citizens to enjoy a guilt-
free alien invasion or superhero film.
Luckily we have both for you this month!
