Exhibitionists
Hello, My Name is Ann
Ann Wilson
Fans might not get it at first. But there is a decided method to her madness, swears powerhouse Heart vocalist Ann Wilson. While the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and her guitarist sister Nancy – who toured last year with Joan Jett and Cheap Trick, and even played London’ s Royal Albert Hall with a full orchestra – are taking some time apart to pursue solo projects. Ann has chosen to define hers two separate ways – on record( like her latest EP, featuring originals like“ Anguish” and covers of Kate Bush’ s“ Don’ t Give Up” and Jimi Hendrix’ s“ Manic Depression”) she’ s dubbed herself The Ann Wilson Thing!, and on her current tour, she’ s billed as Ann Wilson of Heart. Why the exclamation mark?“ Because it’ s exciting!,” she enthuses.“ It’ s to show that it‘ s in the moment, it’ s fun, it’ s right now – it isn’ t some dreary old thing. It’ s got energy behind it, it’ s got oxygen around it, it’ s an ' up ' thing. And I just put the‘ of Heart’ thing on for my concerts so people would actually know it’ s me!”

Legendary Wicker Park music venue Double Door was officially evicted from its longtime home at 1572 N. Milwaukee Avenue last month. The club’ s owners, including partners Sean Mulroney and Joe Shanahan, have been battling landlords Brian and Harry Strauss to stay in the building they’ ve occupied since 1994 until a suitable new location could be found.
The Strauss’ began eviction proceedings against the club in November of 2015. The club was supposed to have vacated the premises by December 31, but according to the Chicago Tribune on November 1, a judge’ s order gave the venue more time to explore their appeal past that deadline while hearings continued. Sean Mulroney, co-owner of Double Door told DNAinfo. com that“ plans are“ moving forward” to reopen in Logan Square at the former Logan Square State Savings Bank, 2551 N. Milwaukee Ave. and that he is planning to ask for permission from the Zoning Board of Appeals.”
Shows previously booked at Double Door have been moved to Metro, Bottom Lounge, Cobra Lounge and other venues, For details and updates visit doubledoor. com. After all the haggling between venue and landlord, the all- new Double Door Logan Square sounds like a mighty fine thing.
