Renowned Dutch pedal designer Dr. No
has released his new guitar pedal Evil
MotherFuzzer. Through his collaboration
with guitarist Pablo van de Poel, who was
recently voted the number one guitar player
of 2015 by Guitarist magazine in the
Netherlands, Dr. No and Pablo are now
ready to bring this new pedal to the public.
The Evil MotherFuzzer is limited to only
175
units
worldwide.
Each
Evil
MotherFuzzer is hand signed and numbered by van de Poel and Dr.No.
Each pedal is built with original germanium transistors, collected from unique
sources all over the world, including an
international radio museum. This coveted
transistor gives the product a true vintage,
classic-reinvented fuzz that guitar tone aficionados lust for. These transistors are so
exclusive that only 175 pedals can be
sourced – that’s all that remains with these
unique pieces. To compliment each pedal,
the MotherFuzzer also contains a matched
pair of rare NOS High Gain AC128zVI’s.
Traditionally, germanium based fuzz boxes
have notoriously caused compatibility
problems when used in the signal chain. Dr.
No has designed a patented circuitry solution that eliminates the issue.
On the exterior of the MotherFuzzer, the
volume output control, plus level, tone, and
fuzz will cut through, even at low volumes.
The Fuzz knob gives the guitarist total fuzz
control, ranging between clean and a classic
fuzz, leaving an exceptional organic tone.
The Shape knob allows guitarists to play
and dial-in harmonic tones adding clarity to
the midrange. The Bias knob gives the user
the ability to leave out the bass when lowering the dial knob. This allows the guitarist
to add effects without compromising the
signal.
Dr. No entered the pedal making business in 2006 after developing a love for the
organic sound of analog vintage effects pedals. Through conversations with hundreds
of musicians as a guitar tech, Dr. No realized that there was a swelling demand for
authentic analog effects, as new digital
effects and mass produced SMD and OEM
products were becoming more homoginized
in the mainstream. Dr. No's mission statement is to re-create an honest, inspirational
sound that he adored growing up as a guitar player and as a guitar-related technician.
The Evil Motherfuzzer will retail for
$278 and can be purchased through
www.drno-effects.com directly.

Waves Abbey Road Reverb Plates Plugin
Waves Audio, a longtime digital signal
processing company, has released the
Waves Abbey Road Reverb Plates Plugin.
Introduced over half a century ago, plate
reverbs have been a fixture of recorded
music ever since. Used most prominently
in the ‘60s and ‘70s by pioneering bands,
including the Beatles and Pink Floyd.
Abbey Road Studios’ original reverb
plates — four EMT 140 units — were first
installed in 1957 to complement the fixed
reverberation times of the studios’ echo
chambers. These beautiful-sounding
plates, with a variable reverb time of up to
six seconds, were then tweaked to perfection by Abbey Road's technical engineers.
To keep noise to a minimum, EMI's
Central Research Laboratories designed
unique hybrid solid-state drive amps for
Plates A, B and C. Plate D remained fully
valve-powered on both drive and output
stages, allowing a versatile array of sonic
characteristics, from warm and dark to
lush and smooth. Waves has now created
meticulous models of these historic and
unique-sounding units, individually modeling the harmonic distortion of both the
drive and output amps as well as the individual plate/damper behaviors.
Key features of the Waves Abbey Road
Reverb Plates include precise modeling of
four legendary Abbey Road plates, a drive
control to set the THD characteristics and
analog noise of the in/out amplifiers and
the plate sheet itself, plus crosstalk
between the stereo inputs to get a stereo
leak effect. Visit waves.com for
demos,pricing and application info.
