Got Health?

One demographic that are appreciating the new Affordable Care Act (or do
you call it "Obamacare?") are full-time and part-time musicians who normally
would not have healthcare coverage unless it's offered by their employer at a fulltime job or perhaps if they're young enough to be covered under their parents
policy (for you early twenty-somethings).
Traditionally musicians and bands have lived on the edge and just hoped
never to get a major illness while they were living the dream performing for the
masses. In hindsight, how many "benefit shows" have you attended supporting
a band member (without insurance) that goes down with an illness only to be left
with a tab for hospital care in the thousands and hundreds of thousands? In reality the ACA will give substantial relief to millions of music industry types who
need a safety net the most. Go to getcoveredillinois.gov for details.
