glad to hear that COB is back on form.

Part of the reason this was among the
best films of 2013 was due to its astounding soundtrack. The choice of music is
electrifying and totally captures the mood,
feel and historic significance of New York
in the 1970s. Some of the songs, such as
Tom Jones' "Delilah" and Duke Ellington's
"Jeep Blues" are crucial to the story line,
but the rest just provides the perfect bed
for this amazing tale to lie in. Electric
Light Orchestra's "10538 Overture" makes
us realize just how great that band was in
its heyday, and the band's other contribution, "Long Black Road," could easily be a
hit today if Sony was smart enough to
release it to radio.
Huge hits by Wings, The Bee Gees,
Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes, and
Elton John help round out the album, and
work perfectly with newer tracks contributed by Chris Stills (Stephen's son) and
soundtrack
whiz,
Danny
Elfman.

songs. I wanted there to be a lot of textural guitar, because in the past I've done a
lot of legato-layered reverb guitar – even
on "Daze," there's a
lot more reverbwashy, long, ethereal
guitar songs, but for
this I wanted something
that
was
still….still sparkly
like that, but something a lot faster to
imply movement.
And that had to do
with me changing
how
I
played
rhythm
guitar.
Instead of doing this sort of shuffle that
I've done since I taught myself how to
play guitar – badly – I intentionally
strummed in a faster manner, which
slowed the overall tempo down. And
that's something I didn't know how to do
at all, but I would give Sune ideas, like ‘I
want there to be textural guitar, but arpeggiated really fast, like Johnny Marr. And
he would take directions from me and
bring that back to the song."
