Concurrently, the DVD video Live At
Great Woods – which chronicles a live performance of ABB just a few months prior
to the above – has been re-released; and
what was previously available only with
band interviews interrupting the playing
has now been restored as one seamless
concert. With a somewhat similar –
though shorter and perhaps not as strong
– set sequence as captured by the Beacon's
two discs, this is probably a must-have
only for those encountering the ABB
recently or those diehard, long-time fans
in need of visual souvenirs.

Music For Escapism Only

It's been a long time coming for
Seahaven. The Torrance, California quartet's debut LP, Winter Forever, dropped
more than two years ago, and while the
thing was sad, sludgy, and sassy enough to
keep fans in catharsis for three solid win-

inspired rock 'n' roll since 1996. On the
band's sixth full-length album, Up the
Dosage, 13 songs about drugging, drinking, fighting and f***ing grace your ears.
There are also a few tricks up the band's
sleeve. A Hammond organ graces CDopener "Everybody's Fault But Mine," giving the song a twisted Gospel vibe before
unleashing a bluesy bruiser of a riff.
Another surprise is that Ruyter steps to
the mic and delivers lead vocals on the 47second "Taking It Easy." The band also
manages to pull off a Big Country bagpipe
moment on "Pussy's Not A Dirty Word."
NP still maintain their sense of humor
on redneck anthems such as "The South's
Too Fat To Rise Again," "Hooray For
Cocaine, Hooray For Tennessee," and
"Before The Drugs Wear Off." Cartwright
doesn't necessarily have the best voice, but
his raspy bark fits the band's brand of
down and dirty, Southern-fried rock. By
now, people should know what to expect
from an NP record, and Up the Dosage
takes you on one sleazy, joyous ride.

MICHAEL SCHENKER'S
TEMPLE OF ROCK
Bridge The Gap
(Inakustik)
Bridge The Gap is the second outing
from Michael Schenker's newest venture:
Seahaven
ters, it's high time for something fresh to
mope about. Reverie Lagoon features a
more mature Seahaven, which, given the
lag, makes sense. Though singer Kyle
Soto's disaffected mumble is just as
dreamy as ever, the quartet have traded
their characteristic wall of guitar noise for
breezy placidity – at times, to a fault. Soto's
heart still hangs front and center on Reverie
Lagoon, but Seahaven's backdrop has morphed from something like a coal mine into,
well, Torrance Beach. The undistorted guitars flutter. The drums sizzle. The cellos
(cellos!) groan. The songs fade in and out
with all the urgency of low tide in
Southern California.

NASHVILLE PUSSY
Up The Dosage
(SPV)
Georgia's Nashville Pussy, led by husband-and-wife duo: vocalist Blaine
Cartwright and guitarist Ruyter Suys (pronounced "Rider Sighs") — have been
churning out their brand of simplistic, raucous, raunchy AC/DC meets Rose Tattoo-
Temple of Rock. While the first album featured several vocalists taking turns at the
mic, this LP is narrowed down to Doogie
White on vocals. White is no stranger to
the scene, he cut his teeth with Ritchie
Blackmore when he reformed Rainbow in
the mid - '90s. With one singer handling all
the vocals Bridge The Gap feels more like
cohesive record, and t \
