une is shaping up to be an action-packed month featuring adrenaline rushes and intense stories. The horror / thriller genre continues to thrive, with exorcisms, A. I. assassins, and Danny Boyle’ s much-anticipated zombie sequel, 28 Years Later in theaters. Here are our top picks.
28 Years Later

Danny Boyle returns with a terrifying new story. It’ s been almost three decades since the rage virus escaped a biological weapons laboratory, and now, still in a ruthlessly enforced quarantine, some have found ways to exist amidst the infected. One such group of survivors lives on a small island connected to the mainland by a single, heavily defended causeway. When one of the group leaves the island on a mission into the dark heart of the mainland, he discovers secrets, wonders, and horrors that have mutated not only the infected but other survivors as well. Stars Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jack O’ Connell, Alfie Williams, and Ralph Fiennes.

The Life of Chuck

Dangerous Animals

When Zephyr( Hassie Harrison), a rebellious surfer, is abducted by a shark-obsessed serial killer( Jai Courtney) and held captive on his boat, she must figure out how to escape before he carries out a ritualistic feeding to the sharks below.
The Ritual

Based on the true story of the 1928 exorcism of Emma Schmidt( Abigail Cowan), one of the most terrifying in U. S. history, the film tells the story of two priests- one questioning his faith( Dan Stevens) and one reckoning with a troubled past( Al) – who must work together to perform a series of terrifying exorcisms to save the young woman’ s soul. After years of disturbing behavior, she underwent a week-long ordeal in an Iowa convent. Witnesses reported levitation, unearthly voices, and supernatural strength. Sanctioned by the Church, her case inspired decades of horror films.
