Mosh: When Jason Newsted left the band
after the recording of your first album
*Doomsday for the Deceiver*, did he have
your blessing or did it feel like he was jump-
ing ship?
MG: When he was going for the audition he
had called me up, and I knew a bunch of
Metallica songs, and he asked me to come
over and just jam with him, and I said,
“absolutely.” We knew he was going to get the
job as soon as he went out for the audition.
His personality fits in great with Metallica.
He’s got a larger-than-life personality, and
even more so he’s a great bass player. So, we
knew he was gone once they asked him.
Mosh: What will the setlist be like for your
upcoming headlining tour?
MG: Fans always want to hear the classics
like “Hammerhead” and “No Place for
Disgrace,” so we’re going to do those. But I
think we’re going to try and incorporate more
from the self-titled [album] and even more off
The End of Chaos. The record is doing really
well for us. It’s always scary to go out on tour
and play new songs, especially for the old
school fans. A lot of them don’t want to hear
it. But the last time we were in Europe, we
took a chance and played three songs from
the new record, and they already knew the
lyrics to them, so they were right up in front
singing along. AK’s got the crowd singing
with him, so I think we’re going to add five
songs.
Mosh: You’ll be playing at The Forge in Joliet
on June 1. What do you like about playing in
the Chicago area?
MG: Dude, The Forge is awesome! That
venue is killer. Chicago has always been good
to us. Where did we play the last time? I can’t
remember the name of it, it’s like a double-
decker and has a restaurant on the top.
Reggies. And there was a great turnout for
that show. It was definitely off the hook, and
we’re looking forward to coming back.
Flotsam and Jetsam appears at the Forge on
Sat., June 1 with Dead By Wednesday, Wrath,
The Everscathed, Inner Decay, and Memories
Wither.

Recording is my philosophy: return to what made music great in my opin-
ion, which is multitrack analog tape, by offering a recording option not
available in this area.
IE: What are some of the services you can offer musicians and podcasters?
PW: We'll provide a multitude of things, including: 16 track recording, 24
track recording (Coming Fall 2019), Podcast production and Mastering of
the final mix. We offer a full mixing suite for files created elsewhere. We
also offer songwriter production - we have house instruments available for
artists. We have voice over and jingle production and music production
and arrangement assistance.

IE: Who are some of the artists you've worked with at APRadio.net?
PW: The Astronaut was our first-ever tracked band, and "Moonbreath" is
the first complete song done at AP Radio and Recording. I tried to get
other bands from social media to come record for free to help dial the room
in but only rappers replied, and being an analog tape studio Rap or Hip-
Hop is not a conducive genre for analog in my opinion. Still looking for
bands or musicians wanting to donate their time - they'll get a two song
demo in return.
