about our riffs. We just like writing the
riffs we like to write. We get put into this
sludge metal category, but for us it's just
all about metal. When we first started the
band and were writing, we weren't even
aware of that title. Which is funny because
now knowing more about it, we've always
been big fans of a lot of bands like that.
But we've always been big fans of metal.
We like thrash and death metal just as
much as sludge metal.
IE: As this column goes to press, you'll
already be on the road touring with
Crowbar and Battlecross. How did this
tour come about?
Erik Olson: We've known the Crowbar
guys for awhile and there's been talks of
us trying to do a tour. There was a tour
that was going to happen with Orange
Goblin, Truckfighters, Crowbar and us,
which was going to be over the spring. It
was booked and everything but ended up
getting canceled at the last minute due to
some family problems with members of
one of the bands. Things kind of came
together after that and it just worked out.
We know their people (Crowbar) and they
know us and it made sense to do it and
we're really excited.
IE: As a newer band still slugging it out
on the road in a van, what do you hope to
achieve or accomplish in the future?
Erik Olson: We're just trying to get out
there and play in front of as many people
as we can. To keep taking different tours
like the Misery Index tour and try to play
to more extreme metal audiences, and try
to get out of our comfort zone. And hopefully, win over more fans through all
walks of metal. There's lots more stuff
coming up this year that I can't announce
yet, but It's looking like it's going to be our
busiest year yet.
