Gonna Love You , Too .” “ The late , great
Buddy Holly , ladies and gentlemen . No one like him ,” says McCartney .
One Hand Clapping makes a more engaging listen than early Wings fare including Wild Life and Red Rose Speedway . It ’ s certainly no embarrassment to the band , who were in top form at the time and invigorated by fresh recruits McCulloch and Venus and Mars contributor Britton . It ’ s surprising that this waited 50 years to see release as an album . One Hand Clapping is an adventurous set that any McCartney solo or Wings fan will find worth revisiting .

THE LURKING CORPSES Lurking After Midnight
( Hells Headbangers )
Indiana ’ s horror metal ghouls , The Lurking Corpses , play a mish-mash of horror punk , blistering thrash , and hooky melodic metal with gimmicky theatrics while cloaked in hoods and monster masks — as if lurking around your local graveyard after midnight . Characteristics of established bands with the “ horrorbilly ” sound , such as Misfits / Samhain , The Other , Volbeat , Cancerslug , Necrogoblikon , and Wednesday 13 , are beautifully weaved into the musical framework of The Lurking Corpses . The Danzig-esque crooning frontman , Lord Vladimir Von Ghoul , is the center of attention here , backed by his highly adequate fellow demon bandmates . Throughout the 15 devilish tracks on their fifth full-length album Lurking After Midnight , The Lurking Corpses perfectly combine their tongue-in-cheek lyrics with their straight-forward musicianship . The one-plus minute instrumental opening title track begins with a quirky shuffle beat and twisted surf rock riffs , giving off a playful Munsters-esque vibe . Following tracks “ Boglin Lips ,” “ Burned Alive ,” and “ Lost In Shadows ”— with their unmistakable Misfits swagger — are embedded with punky riffs , hard-driving D-beat rhythms , and trade-off growled vocals . From the eerie , dissonant guitar melodies of “ Satan Is Real ” to the doo-wop backing vocals of “ Baby Hold On ” and “ Black Dahlia ” to the chants of “ Hail Satan ” on “ Murder Sweet Murder ,” is worth the price of admission alone . When speaking of the guitar work on the album , the one-two fretboard attack of Pharaoh Formaldehyde and Richie Retch wonderfully implement fluid solos and razor-sharp riffing that nicely cuts through the mix and compliments the hard-driving rhythm section of bassist The Nameless Horror and drummer Friar Frightengale . The production of the album — handled by Dan Kingsley and mastered by Collin Jordan — is top-notch — giving clarity to each instrument while emphasizing the lead and backing vocals .
The album is also littered with several classic horror movie samples that add to the overall musical sonority . Lurking After Midnight is a slamming , fun , and enjoyable record . Plus , The Lurking Corpses are equally as enjoyable in the live setting .
