Continued from page 34 was there a falling out?
Shaun Glass: I wouldn’ t say a fall out, but when I left Broken Hope, I was just done with it. It just came to a point where Chuck( Wepfer) and I thought it was fun for what it was, but it was time to move on. I honestly haven’ t seen or talked to Jeremy( Wagner) since Chuck and I quit. At the point in my life where I’ m at now musically and mentally, to be honest, I just don’ t want to play death metal. It’ s fun to listen to and it’ s great if you’ re living in your mom’ s home and you’ re 18 years old. But it just wasn’ t really fun for me anymore. It was fun for the novelty at first and we were on some fun tours. I was just burnt [ out ] on it.
Mosh: What did you think of the finished DVD documentary 25 Years of Sickness: The Broken Hope Story and what was it like seeing old footage with late vocalist Joe Ptacek? Shaun Glass: I fucking loved Joe; and Ryan Stanek( R. I. P. 2015). The real Broken Hope as I like to call it. I have great memories of the’ 90s. It’ s such a shame that I lost two band members in my life at such an early stage and it sucks. Going back and looking at that footage, which I haven’ t seen since I left Broken Hope... it’ s great memories. We were just young kids touring America in a Ryder truck. It was cool. The Broken Hope they have now – is it really Broken Hope?
Mosh: What’ s your side of the well-publicized Deicide / Broken Hope fallout where you were kicked off their 2013 tour? Shaun Glass: I’ ll tell you exactly what happened. Glenn Benton was fucking jealous because Broken Hope came out with a full crew, sound man, we had guitar techs, we

Sat July 15 • 7:45 pm-9:30pm COUNTRYSIDE FEST 140 Countryside Plaza • Home Depot Parking Lot • Just North of Joliet Rd Countryside, IL had decent lighting and we came out really well rehearsed and professional. And Glenn Benton came out half-ass, rolling out in his sweat pants and Harley Davidson shirt. We were friends in the’ 90s, and I let Glenn use my amp because he didn’ t bring his and I kept telling him just don’ t change my settings. Well, he kept changing my settings and at the first song I’ d be on stage trying to dial my bass settings back and it’ d just ruin my vibe and didn’ t sound like my bass tones that I wanted. We were in El Paso where the stabbings happened, a kid got stabbed. That was the night. So I had enough and I said he couldn’ t use my amp anymore and he got pissed and said we were kicked off of the tour. There were three shows left. That ' s my point of what Glenn Benton [ was ] and has become now.
Mosh: Are you working on new material? Does it make more sense these days to record a full album or to digitally release a few tracks here and there? Shaun Glass: We haven’ t really figured out what’ s the best angle. I think this“ Memories” re-released single is cool because most people listen to digital now. I know the hipsters love vinyl and it’ s cool for death metal, but you can’ t go in your car and crank a fucking record! Most of society is really on the run; people are in their cars listening to music, or traveling on a plane, on their phones or their computers. I just think it’ s a digital world. Also, I don’ t know if it’ s smart to put out 10 new songs. Do people want to hear 10 new songs? I think if we give people a few new songs every couple of months [ it ] might be the best route. I think people want new music
