The Way Down Wanderers
tracked their newalbum
Illusions at Shirk Studios.
C
hicago and Peoria-based bluegrass
and alt-roots band The Way Down
Wanderers recorded their sophomore
album Illusions at Chicago’s SHIRK
STUDIOS. The album was produced, engi-
neered and mixed by Grammy winner David
Schiffman, who has worked with an electric
mix of artists including Johnny Cash, HAIM
and System of a Down, plus Rage Against the
Machine. The album was also tracked at
L.A.’s Sargent Studios.
The band has tweaked their acclaimed
hybrid of heartfelt songwriting, lyrical har-
monies, and according to their management,
the new album is "a diverse range of musical
traditions, somewhere between bluegrass
and hip-hop, and the result is an album that
sounds both timeless and fresh." Illusions
drops in February, and it "fuses a raw enthu-
siasm for life with the sobering reality of how
quickly time passes."
On the showcase stage at RANGER
STUDIOS in Franklin Park they're hosting a
bluegrass showcase featuring Tanglewood
and Madbread, while Stereo-Fi (formerly,
Spinning Red) hits the showcase stage on
January 26th.
