Blues” for his uncle Houston’s small
Atomic H label and soon gained a reputation for his slashing guitar licks. Eddy
started playing at South side clubs regularly. By the late ‘50s, he had joined the
musicians union and attracted the attention of an agent who changed Eddy’s
name to Clear Waters, in response to
Muddy Waters. His energetic showmanship and skill at blending rock, blues,
gospel and funk made him a crowd pleaser everywhere he played. By the ‘60s when
Chicago blues gigs started drying up,
Eddy found steady work in the Western
suburbs, serving up rock and country with
contagious flair. His recent live CD, Soul

always feel it’s a great place to warm up
before we go out and do tours. If we want
to throw something different into the set,
we can try it out on our hometown people
first. Not to mention we haven’t played a
live show in about a year, so the band’s
really stoked right now.

MOSH-WORTHY…LIVE:
Enforcer,
Warbringer, Exmortus, Cauldron (Bada
Space during his 80th birthday concert last
year, captures the essence of his genreblurring sound. From the scorching intro,
“They Call Me The Chief,” which has
Eddy showcasing his ferocious licks, to the
roots rock of “Too Old To Get Married”
and the showstopping blues burner,
“Came Up The Hard Way,” he delivers on
all levels.
After watching the blues industry shift
through various phases, Eddy believes
that the genre is headed toward an
upswing. “It’s going to get more notoriety
from the young people. They’ll figure out
it’s the foundation for all the other music.
At some point, they’ll wonder, who is the
mother and father? How did it get here?”

MENTION-WORTHY: Canadian metal
trio Anvil stay true to their roots on their
16th full-length release, Anvil is Anvil,
which continues the trademark raucous
Anvil sound. Swedish heavy/power metal
band Manimal is back with their sophomore full-length release, Trapped in the
Shadows, which is a powerful blend of
melodic metal and progressive elements.
