Green Day TBD
Something ’ s been brewing in the Green Day camp for a while now . And no , it ’ s not their Oakland Coffee . For the past year , the band has been teasing their “ 1972 ” project by sharing clips from the recording studio , using the # 1972 hashtag in their social media posts , and even teasing the return of frequent collaborator Rob Cavallo . With Cavallo in tow , the band ’ s next album is expected to be a return to form , moving away from the soul , party vibe on the divisive Father of All Motherfuckers . ( Come on , it ’ s not that bad ).
QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE TBD
It ’ s been a minute since we ’ ve heard from Queens of the Stone Age . Their last album Villains dropped in 2017 , and aside from a one-off gig in 2020 , things have been pretty quiet . But Josh Homme and co returned last year for a collection of vinyl reissues . They also confirmed their imminent return with a sneaky little blurb on their website . With the band slated to appear at various festivals this year and many in the QOTSA camp confirming a new album is down , seems like things won ’ t stay quiet for long .

Oh , Robert Smith . You ’ ve been stringing fans along with this album since 2019 . Each year he crawls out of his gothic lair to assure

fans the new album is just about done and will be released soon . And each year , we ’ re gullible enough to fall for it . 2022 seemed a bit more promising as the band unveiled several new tracks during their European tour . But , yet again , no new album from The Cure . Maybe Smith will end our suffering this year and finally release this long-awaited album . Or maybe he ’ ll just do a deluxe remaster of Wild Mood Swings and we ’ ll be happy about it for a little while .
CAGE THE ELEPHANT TBA
Okay , so maybe this is just wishful thinking , but the band hasn ’ t released anything since 2019 ’ s Social Cues . It ’ s prime time for these indie darlings to make a return . Frontman Matt Shultz even dropped subtle hints that new music was on the horizon . But given Shultz ’ s recent legal troubles , maybe it ’ ll be a bit longer until we hear from these Kentucky rockers again .
ULTRA Q TBD
This indie band , fronted by Billie Joe Armstrong ’ s son Jakob , has amassed an impressive following over the years . Previously known as Mt . Eddy , the band returned in 2020 with a new name , a new EP Get Yourself a Friend and a spin on their jangly punk rock sound . Recently , the band hinted their debut album is on the way , and based on their latest single , “ I Watched Them Go ,” it ’ s going to mark a new chapter for this promising band . Don ’ t sleep on Ultra Q !
